  • I really like your video. Thank you for sharing. I still enjoy my 90D these three years later -as my primary DLSR camera. and I agree with the drawbacks you point out.

Hi Dan! For me there was a flaw in 90d, I started to work in sports streaming with a team, and I had a issue with changing batteries every 2-2.5 hours of hdmi output mode, thats very annoying, changing battery on a video tripod with lots of wires and heavy 70-200 lens takes long time(over 1-2 min) and we lose precious footage, but I found a way) I bought Kingma lp-e6 to usb-c dummybattery adapter and it works) You can use a 30000 powerbank for example or a macbook usb-c charger, with qc pd support. The only thing that is VERY important is to use a voltmeter on the +- outputs on dummy before you plug it inside camera, and check that voltage is 7,4-8,6 volt, not higher, or camera will fry. Some cables or power banks are seem to not work with dummy batteries and produce 12-20 volts that will break the power electronics and it will cost around 400$ to repair. Thanks for the video I agree on every thing you said about 90d. Its not a fancy hi-end gear but it is a workhorse, it never fails never overheats, it is even a overkill in most scenarios, unless you are shooting a full length movie or something…

I love it when people buy a crop sensor DSLR and then complain about it being a crop sensor DSLR
  • Muchísimas gracias por el video. Muy bien explicado. Felicitaciones. Saludos desde Lima Perú

Having had this camera for three years now I must say that I agree with you on everything!
  • @red2000films
Hi Dan, great video. How do you find that the 90D tolerates colour grading? Can you push the colours very far in post? I own a Canon 77D and find it produces a nice picture straight out of camera, but the 1080p codec is really weak and colours fall apart with too much grading.
  • @keith2599
Hi Dan, Yes all the thing I hate the same on the 90d, But still a great camera and also I would like to add why is it your grades always look AWESOME compare to my grades even on the 90d' it's sounds as though I need to follow your tutorials and re run some of your grade vids again... Again I am a fan of natural and flat mode... Any how LOVED the video vlog... Take care to you and the family and look forward to all of your exciting vids... 73s from your die hard fan club...

Try adjusting your firewall settings on your computer to allow incoming connection from EOS Utility.
  • @FeedScrn
Hi Dan... I like all the example pics and footage you include. It make the video more real, as it were. Did you overcome the Cinestyle problem you had? It sounds like a great tool.... If so, do you have a tutorial video on how to use it? Thanks.
  • @edwin18959
Good job Dan. Is the M6 mark ii much better?
  • Any way to shoot 4K@60 on this camera in future. I mean what if Canon provides some software update. Is this possible?
  • Thank god, I didn't buy it. Was about to. Thank you, Dan! Very well explained.
  • I got 2 canon 80Ds cameras and I don’t HATE them because I got the RIGHT LENSES for my photography work that I do
  • I wanted to give you a possible solution so that you can make that video you wanted to about downloading the technicolor video you wanted to do. 1 Make sure you have the right cable. 2 Make sure you you have wifi turned off on your camera. 3 Is what worked for me when I was trying to get the utility to work was when you hook your Canon 90D to your computer if it is just giving you a black screen.... I had to go into my taks manager and end the web utility program that it was trying to run at the same time. Once I did this it let my utility program run as it should with no more problems. It's been so long ago but when you started to talk about it in your video I had the same problem.... so I hope this helps you.
  • @JayWall
Did they ever fix manual focus for slow motion on the 90d?
  • I have the same issue with Canon R - I was able to connect my 70d to my phone via wi-fi or blutooth, but I can't do that with Canon R. Tried two copies of Canon R and spent ca 2 hours. No idea what's going on. Anyone had similar issue with Canon R?
  • Hello nice video. I have my Canon 90D for 2 years now and you have pretty much hit everything EXCEPT the biggest hate of this camera for me is the FPS output through HDMI. It only output at 30fps and that is all. So, if you wanted to shoot a short flic/movie and use an external recorder you could NOT use 24fps (25fps outside the states) only 30fps which will not give you that cinematic look. Also, it is the same with the 120fps and this may be confusing but 120fps on the Canon 90D is actually converted into a 30fps format... it is the look of 120fps yet it is in 30fps so when you put this into a timeline on your editor you cannot have a 24fps timeline it has to be a 30fps timeline for it to work. If you do otherwise it will "jerk" every now and then. The Canon 90D has a very unique look and is a good camera but it could have been one of the absolute best had it not been for the cripple hammer. My opinion. I still use mine along with my Canon C70 which has NONE of these limitations.
