One thing to bear in mind with these Kintsugi-style repairs is that the traditional technique puts the gold just on the surface--as you found, mixing it in doesn't produce a good visual effect, and it's expensive too. What you really want is to fill the gap, and then essentially "gild" the repair with a layer of high gold concentration.
  • Cody is the perfect example of succeeding on YouTube by just doing interesting things and finding your niche. No fancy production equipment, mostly hand held footage. Yet he has over 2 million subs.
  • My mother, who used to be an interior designer, always says, what you can't hide you need to emphasize. Well done on emphasizing the breaks with gold
  • I love the symbolism, they are trying to fix their place and you send them a brocken and fixed piece of art. I love Kintsugi reconstructions.

The most Cody's-Lab/like thing possible - clay from the mine, weird elements, kiln heating and plenty of mishaps turned awesome features! Absolutely loved the video!
  • "I've got to go up to the clay mine and get some resources." Cody, this is a beautiful video. I love it.

I have a newfound respect for everything clay-related. I always imagined clay as almost indistinguishable from mud and never imagined the amount of work that goes into a material like this
  • The legend himself. This guy has been such an integral part in keeping me interested in science. Hats off to you sir. What an epic career documented in It's entirety.
  • @Hendlton
I'm kind of glad the first piece broke. The second piece looks like a perfect gift from a geologist.
  • @firenter
Staying true to the HTME brand and getting your starting materials from nature! Love what you've done here and I hope nobody's gonna cry over those spilled beans xD

That marbling came out gorgeous! I'm a ceramist and I'm delighted of what you archived with this piece, you never cease to amaze me, thank you for taking us for the ride.
  • He was slapping that clay like it owed him money 😂 Its always exciting seeing a new vid here
  • @OfficiallySnek
Wow, this is awesome! I have been watching their channel close to when they first started. They definitely need the support right now. Thank you for doing this.
  • @MrMonsterAddict
I see Cody... I must click. Love watching anything you make.
  • I once saw Cody driving, about a half mile from my house, and I'm in a totally different state. I did a double take, because my first thought was "I know that guy... Who. Is. That." And then I said "Oh, it's Cody." That's what I like to see on YT. Regular people doing things they are interested in. The kind of people that you might actually see out there, driving around, even in your own neighborhood, just by chance.

Any other youtuber uploading something like this, eh, don't care; but Cody makes stuff like this so interesting. As I age I'd like to say my bullshit meter is getting more accurate, I can pick up on who genuinely enjoys sharing with us. Cody's channel is #1 in this respect. - Gets right into the video, no over the top intros. - Shares his knowledge in a calm and simple fashion as if he's your buddy, not yelling into the microphone. - Not afraid to show inevitable mistakes, and shows how he finds a solution. - No "Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, smash that bell"; ends with "Hope you enjoyed, see you next time." We need more youtubers like you, seriously.

Love how positive everyone is in the comment section. We love you Cody!
  • Looks like a ore vein breaking through. Nothing more satisfying then when you get a save like this. Looks great Cody 👍
  • @SkyOctopus1
You've got some Kintsugi rocking now! It's the technique of repairing broken pottery using gold and part of a philosophy of accepting failings.
  • @RobertKreegier
I like how not only does Cody show you how to do neat things, but he shows you how to do neat things if you're a monoplegic.
