The Big Bang Theory created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007, and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast 279 episodes over 12 seasons.

The show originally centered on five characters living in Pasadena, California: Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), both physicists at Caltech, who share an apartment; Penny (Kaley Cuoco), a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's similarly geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Over time, supporting characters were promoted to starring roles, including neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), and comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman).

The show was filmed in front of a live audience and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. It ultimately reached the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times for Parsons. In total, it won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations. Parsons also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2011. In 2017, the series spawned a prequel series, Young Sheldon, based on Parsons' character Sheldon Cooper; it also airs on CBS.

I tear up when he calls Howard, “Astronaut Howard Wolowitz.” It shows his actual respect for him.
  • I have seen Sheldon's Nobel acceptance speech countless time and it still brings tears. Love this show.

The fact that Jim Parsons didn't react to the paper on his shoulder and delivered his line without a missing a beat was impressive. I don't think John Galecki's expression was acting, I think he was honestly amazed/stunned. +1 to them both.

Last scene shows how close Penny is to Sheldon in real life too. No other series shows such a perfect relationship between people of opposite genders that isn't romantic like this show. Penny and Sheldons friendship is so pure.
  • TBBT had one of the best series finales that I’ve watched. Sheldon’s epiphany and his friends continuing to support him was just perfect. Cheesy but good

How am I just realising that Stuart is the Gunther of TBBT

The Nobel Prize speech of Sheldon was the best moment of the whole series.

"Live long and suck it!" My favourite quote ever.
  • Most of the time sitcoms end with a whimper, it’s gratifying to know this show started strong and ended on a high. Everything came full circle.

The last scene. So beautiful. Shows how much Sheldon had grown throughout the series. 🥺🥺❤️❤️
  • No one ever noticed that Sheldon almost chokes up from emotion when he says "astronaut Howard Wallowitz"

If you watch the table read of the Nobel acceptance speech, you will undoubtedly be deeply touched by the moments around the table; it was a truly powerful speech.

Seeing Sheldon at the beginning and seeing him here, he has come such a long way. I love the character development in this series!

the last season was extremly rushed. However the tears were absolutely real. one of the longest sitcoms. They spent years and years and years together. a moment in time comes to a close. the ending of a chapter.
  • I’m glad Chuck Lorre went out this way with the Nobel Prize episode with Jim Parsons. This is the best way to finish a season!

Just finished watching the whole show in less than two weeks Didn't expect to cry this much watching the last two episodes especially Amy and Sheldon's Nobel acceptance speech What a great sitcom.. thank you for all the laughs, emotions and tears
  • @bobbrown5529
Penny wasn't the only one who teared up , it's only a show , but that was an awesome speech .
  • @MrEaglescout3
2:14 I thought that was in the script. Will Wheaton was absolutely hilarious when he came in in his uniform and accepting the hate 😂😂
  • That "I love you" from Stuart got the producers in split and gave him more exposure into the show.
