I love the way Carly Simon rehearses a few lines of harmony with Graham Nash, next thing they’re all out there singing in perfect 4part harmony!!! It’s unreal the knack some singers have for singing live harmonies. Very different from an isolation booth in studio where you can just concentrate on your part only. What gifted musicians. FYI, Stevie Nicks was at No Nukes as well. She didn’t perform but saw lots of pics of her backstage talking to different people!

“Gone to Carolina in my Mind” - 1971 Fall in Chapel Hill JT played Carmichael Auditorium (then UNC’s basketball facility) - I got 2 tickets but my sister, a HS senior, adored James - so I gave girlfriend Patty one ticket & sister the other - an hour before showtime I snuck into Carmichael via adjacent Woolen Gym - a guy in the tunnel asked me why was I there? - I told him I was with the stage crew - unexpectedly he assigned me to carry some co-axle cable up to the spotlights - Minutes later I moved down to floor level and laid Patty & sis’s blanket front row - I put a song request list on the piano - the week before event Patty & Sis had a screen printed t-shirt made with “Sweet Baby James” on front (green field with yellow letters) - I took the wrapped shirt to the dressing room but was stopped so I asked security to deliver it - the outside doors opened and Patty & sis joined me at floor level - within 10 feet of JT’s virtuosity - he played his first set - took a brief intermission - then started playing again - after a few more songs Patty pokes me & points toward the entry way from dressing room - leaning against the wall wearing the t-shirt was Carly Simon! No shit! - can’t wait to return to Chapter Hill - Class of ‘74

I was there for 2 of the concerts. Still have the program. The more times change, the more they stay the same.

I love the rising harmony voices against the pedal high note by Simon on the "ya better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone " section each time, that there be drama, thx

If only the change had actually happened and lasted. These times we are in now feels like hell on earth. It feels like the end of the world. It feels like doom. Balancing on the precipice of the highest point, of the highest mountain, and we could either back off the ledge, or plunge over the side into oblivion.

Haha….Carly’s voice overpowered everyone.
-
Still perfect

Wow! I love this harmony, and people who really know music and how if comes from within. I wonder why, maybe copyright or something like that, the whole song wasn't uploaded? I wish I could hear it all as it's so beautiful, and the message with that concert!
