Tip 1: Build trust and demonstrate humility Tip 2: Get to know your new team (take notes) Tip 3: Let your team get to know you (not your vision or things you want to change) Tip 4: Communicate that you're in learning mode Tip 5: Schedule one-to-ones Tip 6: Communication channels: how you prefer to be communicated with (calendar sharing, office hours, etc)

I should have watched this video before I started the work as the Head.
  • Thanks for the video, and for your channel, it is really great ! I have a doubt, I don't understand your POV in one thing. You said that before communicating your vision and plans of change etc, it is better an humility approach, communicating on the 1st team meeting that you will be learning about the team and their dynamics first. Then you said (5:38 minute) that after a 1:1s round, set up another meeting to explain more in detail your plans and vision? --> wouldn't be too fast and pretencious this second meeting?
  • Having one on Monday 😌 Only thing I'm worrying about is if I say to give me 4 weeks to get familiar with job I will look very unprofessional.
