Honestly, IDW Soundwave is my favorite because by the end of the series, he,Thundercracker, and Megatron are the only decepticons who actually want peace, and he allies with Optimus and the humans to attain that peace.

The answer is Megatron kept forgetting to do the laundry when it was his turn and thus soundwave allowed starscream to chuck him into space out of spite.

I honestly think if Soundwave somehow became a prime after stealing the matrix, that would make for a very interesting and somewhat intense story for him. Mainly because the matrix, at least in the aligned continuity, was something Megatron thought he deserved himself. So to see that his most loyal decepticon is worthy and might have goodness in him after all would surely send him over the edge some kinda way, all while Soundwave slowly but surely realizes his mistake joining the Cons and works to end the war

On the part of Soundwave fighting for Decepticon leadership, I heard somewhere that he trying to get leadership so he could make Astrotrain go back for Megatron.

It’s funny how a hand full of humans and a pony know what Soundwave looks like on the inside.

My favorite interpretations are the ones where he's particularly concerned with minicon rights. It makes him so much of a better character to see that his use of the cassette bots is in order to forge a place for them in the world.

4:03 - I'm aware of a theory that Soundwave had willfully blinded himself (notice that his eyes aren't red like they normally are, only for that scene) because he didn't want to see Megatron get thrown out of Astrotrain, because his loyalty to Megatron was conflicting with his desire for self-preservation.

The way I see it soundwave is a decepticon but more follows his ideals than blindly fallowing orders He follows because of the cause not out of blind servitude

Soundwave has always been my favourite cybertronian and soundwave on TFP was my favourite on screen version of the character

Soundwave was my first transformer I had as a kid all the way back in 1986...until I left him in the road and he got ran over😢
