Without auto-tune, without lip-syncing, just the most talented singer and performer on the Planet pouring his heart out, no one, I mean no one comes close, EAP very best singer that ever lived.

Even in failing health...he sang the most powerful version of this song that has EVER been sung!  Go bless Elvis!

This was by far the best performance of this song he ever did. He was singing directly to God. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't see his soul.
  • God created man but he also created the greatest voice and human being this world has ever seen, rip and God bless him.

Only Elvis could sing this song even if you are not religious you can't help but feel the gift he had.

I believe, deep down he knew he was going home. He just knew it! He hit some spectacular notes on that performance that wasn't his norm.

not many singers can commit to a vocal the way elvis could.

WHEN ELVIS  SINGS HOW GREAT THOU ART OR ANY OTHER GOSPEL SONGS YOU CAN TELL THAT HE LOVES GOD.
  • Elvis believed in Jesus. He was not ashamed of that. Too many people today are. Is it coincidence that we have not had a great entertainer since Elvis? How Great Thou Art!

His voice never failed him. He still had that power to hit the higher notes. Elvis will always be The King.

I know he sang that song straight from his heart. I will never forget how beautiful he sang his gospel songs. All for the glory of the Lord! May he RIP.

When Elvis wanted to do this song live in the early 70`s in Vegas, he was told that he most probably would fall flat on his face. It was predicted that a sophisticated Vegas audience would not tolerate a gospel song. Elvis didn`t care, and the song became a showstopper. He got a five minute standing ovation the first time he sang it on stage in Vegas, reducing audience members to tears. He originally recorded this song in 1966, and it was released on the "How Great Thou Art"-album in 1967. The album went triple platinum, selling 3 million copies, a totally insane figure for a religious LP. He was a musical chameleon, and should have lived for a thousand years. He brought so much pure joy to so many people (and still does). God knows how we could use an Elvis right now.
