I remember when this came out, back in 1987, I was six years old. My parents wouldn't take me to see it in the theaters, cause it was too "dark". So my Grandpa snuck me away, and we saw it together. We loved it so much, that we stayed in the theater for a second showing. That experience was one of the great movie memories of my life. Seeing He-Man presented differently from the cartoons, as a result of being filtered through the lens of reality, sat deeply with me. I thought it was fascinating, and I love my Grandfather for giving me that experience. From then on, I was, and still am a film buff. I've been on a hundred or so productions, ranging from commercials, to features. And it can be argued that it was because of Masters of the Universe, and of course, my Grandfather. He passed away in 2012, from a brutal fight with Cancer. RIP Harvey Bagley, AKA, Grandpa.

I don't care what nobody says, in the 80's and even now, this was an awesome fuckin' movie. I paid to see it, yes I did and I'm proud of it. Me and my partner loved it! I have no shame in admitting it!!!
  • The ending with Julie's parents is SO poignant!!!! Reminds you to cherish your family because they can be taken away at any time.
  • Saw this when it came out in 1987. I was 5 years old and my uncle took me. He passed after a sudden illness 10 years ago. I think of him when I saw this. Like a lot of 80s kids, I too had all the figures and playsets. This ending gets me in the feels EVERY TIME. I’m 40 now and seeing Julie run outside into Kevin with the keys and map, and them both confirming that they both experienced the same thing—that it actually happened, & that they could save her parents? It always makes me tear up each time. Then to cap it all off, He-Man saying “I have the power” in front of the castle tops it off perfectly!

Man, the 80's was an amazing decade, really wish I could go back. Thx again for uploading this movie (one of the best parts of my childhood memories). Good Journey everyone!

The Skeletor scene at the end was the scene that makes me check after the credits of every movie.

I don't care what anybody says, I LOVE the way this movie wraps up! And the dynamics in the music gives me chills! Thank you grandpa for not only taking me to see this in the theater when I was 6 years oid, but also allowing us to stay for a second showing! R.I.P to my beloved grandfather.

EVERYONE I've ever met believes that Frank Langella's the one saving grace of this movie, and his Skeletor is still probably my favorite movie villain ever because of how amazingly acted he is. But, the music's really, really good as well. I don't think Bill Conti gets nearly enough credit for how great it is. The Cosmic Key music's cool, the main title music's really good, and Skeletor's theme is one of my favorite movie marches ever, right up there with the Imperial March. Great stuff.

So, no one’s gonna give Gwildor credit for getting Julie back to the exact time period she wanted?
  • @lisabaughn
My siblings and I used to watch this movie nonstop as kids. So glad I found this. It still kicks ass!
  • @mtklaric
Frank Langella said this was his favorite role he played
  • The ending gets me every time... so epic and fantastic, and that wonderful music... I love it!!
  • Wonderful film brings back memories of being 6 and my grandma took me to the cannon 123 cinema because my mum was too busy to be a mum the shitbag. I am now 37. I will cherish this film forever. Good journey everyone!!!
