If you think about it, it's actually pretty simple but creative. What's hard here is not about building it, but its about the idea of how to build it. Also I notice that there's no automated failure mechanism in it, so even if you hit those pipes (when youre between the pipes) its still going. what would be cool if you put perhaps a hover sensors in the bird so that when it detect pipes, it will automatically stop the rotation. As for stopping the rotation I recommend not controlling it manually, but as soon as 1 button pressed (like press start) it will automatically spin within a delay, and then it stopped when you fail. For this you could try using a clutch mechanism to spin all of the "tank wheels" to move the screen, and when it detects a movement it will detach the clutch. My opinion about this and your other mechanism is that you're better at motorlockings that makes a game changing for engineers in plane crazy, still a Great work!
