John is a Teenager faced with an overbearing Father trying to teach him the ways of this lawless land. When he witnesses a brutal act of inhumanity, he must decide how to handle what he has seen. How he faces the test will determine the path he takes for the rest of his life.

REK Films rolled cameras on June 10th of 2016 in the barren regions of the Pryor Mountains in Montana just north of the Wyoming border.

The film centers around a teenage boy trying to survive a barren land and witnesses a brutal act of inhumanity and must decide how to handle what he has seen. This one act will shape the path he chooses to go down the rest of his life.

The Film stars Amber Rose Mason, Jax Menez Atwell, Travis Barchenger, Tianta Stevens and first time actor Bryce Michael Kelly .
This film was shot with a Sony A6500 for about 98% of the shots. We also used a gopro and an Osmo mounted on an Inspire One Drone. The Budget for the film was $600 so it was mostly a labor of love.

Plot holes. 1. The other truck still had gas and could run. So she could have 1 truck and the kid the other truck. 2. She should have never used her gun to shoot very stupidly at that guy while the other guy was driving. She could have saved it for when they stopped so they wouldve had a way better chance of coming out on top in that situation. Which leads me to plot hole number 3. Dude shouldve reversed like she said and not got out like a dummy just to die with no weapon or anything to defend himself.

This was actually a lot better then most low cost budget films. Acting is a hard skill and they did pretty good. The directing and camera shots was really thought out. Good job

Young man saved her twice...once from his father and the last time from from the wilds. As the father found out, there's killing in the boy, but for the right reasons.

Well done. To the comment critics, short films like this are where actors and crew learn a lot of technical skills, they are in large part learning experiences and they will likely all go on to even greater things. I am grateful they are free to watch here, we pay nothing so why complain?
  • For those who find it boring and too emotional, you think a post-apocalypse environment wouldn't be full of psychological struggles? No moral dilemmas whatsoever? This short film shows the ethical part of what humans would go through. I think it's different than all the others moaning-decomposed-zombies usual short films. It's unique and it's great work.

Based on the epic music at the end, and the way the shot is pulling back, I'd say a Super Hero has been born.

My childhood was in those mountains, it's amazing that I can say I've stood in the same places time and time again where this was filmed, which makes me have a true physical connection with this piece of art. Excellent job, I have been awaiting this for over a year now, I hope there is more to come!
  • Awesome short film. Don't listen to the naysayers.....as I dare them to come up with anything better. This was excellent. A bunch of brainless jocks wouldn't get it. I do get the psych behind and beyond what was seen. Sad that too many armchair critics cannot grasp something simple, yet complex. That kind will never get it. It was well done....music, lighting, acting, etc. I loved it!! Good job!! Only the ignorant won't understand the underlying meaning.❤❤😊

  • i thought this was very good and while at the end it had more questions than answers, its a reminder that sometimes life is like that, thanks for the upload

  • @MotionBoatFilms
Excellent short, brilliantly shot and the acting was spot on. Love the last scene, showing the vastness of their struggle.
  • If REK Films decides to create a second clip of the young man's journey, and REK Films opens a GoFundMe, I'll contribute what I am able. It won't be much, but I'll be honored to help. The SL, acting, scenery, the creativity and imagination it took on a mere $600 to give birth to a fantastic movie! Please keep me in mind if ya'll do the GoFundMe. My respect goes out to all involved in this movie. It's wonderful!
  • I enjoyed this short alot ..... Short films and short stories are two of my favorite art forms ..... THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT UPLOAD
