Whoever edited this obviously thought that presenting events in a chronological order was a bad idea, but that repeating a few snippets was a good one. Baffling.

This is a pretty blighty area of Riverside. Not a whole lot around it but long ago vacant lots. The place looked like a mess before this fire started. It was an old clapboard building built long ago.

There's a "riverside" in most states...I assume this is California?
  • Ya know, somebody out to invent a high-volume nozzle that could be permanently installed on top of an engine that could knock down a fire like this using water carried on the pumper while hoses were being attached to a hydrant. I'm not a firefighter but it is just a thought.

How come there's so many strange fires in California Colorado Texas something's going on

This building was one of the properties that was scheduled to be taken by the City of Riverside for a grade separation (underpass under the adjacent railroad line) at nearby 3rd Street. The owner most likely already had a purchase offer from the city for the property. This fact alone will have the Fire Department and any insurance carrier give this a closer look to make sure there wasn't any funny business. On the flip side, there have been a number of homeless related fires nearby, so anything is possible.
