The lyrics refer to the end of the break down of a relationship hence: When the War is over, As Jimmy walks off, he says: "Killer" referring to the brilliant job John did of this song. The very last thing John says in this is "I gotta tell you, I got a bigger kick out of that than you did" They both respect each other's talents.

I came from Vietnam missing part of my right foot. My war was over. I spent time in Mexico getting crazy. A great lady saved me from my own destructive path.
  • It's been a bit of a journey for John. But he's doing well now! Jimmy has had some health issues recently as well. But he is also well on the mend! And yes, John and Jimmy are very good friends and they have a very healthy respect for each other!

You should watch John sing this at his Last Time concert. He’s in his 50s then and it’s absolutely flawless.

Two aussie legends. Love cold chisel (Jimmys band) and John Farnham. Both are great friends. Most Australian singers are good friends as they know each other well especially cold chisel, INXS, AC/DC, midnight oil and Keith urban also has done songs with Jimmy and Jimmy has sung with Keith when he has toured Australia. I was at Keith urban concert when he started singing flame trees which is a cold chisel song and Jimmy came on and the crowd who were mainly country fans went off and everyone in crowd was singing. It was epic. Keith’s voice was great but Jimmys was brilliant

Great reaction. Some info: Cold Chisel were/are one of Australia’s greatest rock n’ roll bands. A product of the same tough pub rock scene as AC/DC, but with more diverse music, “Chisel” formed in Adelaide in 1973, moved to Sydney in 1976, released their first album in 1978, and had disbanded by the end of 1983. Despite breaking up in 1983, Cold Chisel have enjoyed briefly reforming for studio albums in 1998, 2012, 2015, 2019, and there have been numerous other releases. To get a feel for their wilder side, check out their cover of "Wild Thing".

A couple of legends being great!! Love the love and respect they have for each other.

Something is wrong with my baby is a must see from these two !!

Not just John and Jimmy, but their families are good friends too. I suppose rock stars kids understand where other rock star's kids are coming from.

Yes it was an impromtu surprise performance by Jimmy...but he did miss his cue a bit lol. While this is a cold chisel song, written by Steve Prestwich the drummer, it is also a regular on Johns setlist as well. Because when Cold Chisel split up, Steve joined the Little River Band where John was the lead singer at the time. He bought the song with him so it also became a regular part of LRB setlist. When John left LRB he had the right to continue singing all LRB songs that he recorded. It has become one of the most popular songs for both Cold Chisel and John❤❤❤

Jimmy missed his cue so they had to drag it out a little lol. He had no warm up etc and both trying to sing in the open air with a bit of a breeze isn't easy for most singers. I love the more mature Jimmy now..I wasn't always a fan lol. But John & Jimmy's friendship has stood the test of time. Love your channel guys. ps John is now cancer free and his sons say he is even singing in the shower lol. Jimmy is in good health now and slowly getting back to normal with the help of his beloved family. I wonder if you would check out another Aussies legend Guy Sebastian? I'd love that.

I was at a concert in Tasmania, that rained non -stop, for hours. Meanwhile on stage, John sang and sang through the rain. He gave everything to those fans who came to hear him ! Even through all that, the concert sounded like a perfect recording !
  • @eclecticapoetica
now you need to do Cold Chisel’s version of Wild Thing. Jimmy being absolutely epic!
  • Good version but Cold Chisel's version is the best. Check out their version from their Ringside concerts. They have 2 lead singers, and the other bloke, Ian Moss has a great voice. Other popular songs of theirs are Choir Girl, , Four Walls, Cheap Wine, Flame Trees, etc but i also suggest you check out their version of Wild Thing from their Last Stand concerts or Bow River from their Ringside concerts. Both are great live performances.

Hissing on the video you say? I thought it was my tinnitus again.!
  • @judileeming1589
My favourite live collaboration of these two Aussie legends together. The note that John hits off screen at 9:54 … perfection.
  • Check out all of Cold chisel but especially Khe Sahn, Bow River, Saturday Night and when the war is over cos you will see the other singing half of chisel who is the incredible Ian Moss
  • John is such a great performer, he’s just there for the music, the love, his band and his fans, John always has a great time on stage, and lives to entertain. John is the greatest male vocalist of all time. Jimmy had a bit of rareness in his voice in this one but can sing a lot better, plus I’m pretty sure Jimmy had had a few here.
  • @jackmag4056
One cold chisel song you definitely have check out is “bow river”
  • @Spinspiel
Check out Jimmy Barnes with INXS on the duet from the movie "Lost Boys" called "Good Time".
