That right there is another reason for bus driver shortages.
  • I don’tKnow how do these bus drivers are able to do their job. Even just screaming kids who can’t stay in their seats.

Attacked while driving but if you retaliate youre put on administrative leave or fired. I had a bus trainer tell the class to release their seatbelt at the stops. That you dont want to get into a brawl and are stuck while someone is jumping on you. There are just too many bad parents and no real consequences for parent or child.

Im an attendant. In a small town. I dont think id ever be a bus driver in a city. Especially with the possibility of this happening.

Yeah no shit. Parents don’t parent anymore.

I was watching the video where the kids were hanging out the window to grab tree limbs, it's going to take one of them to fall out to learn and maybe it needs to happen because these kids aren't going to listen to anybody!! School bus drivers get on the buses and they're entering a war zone. That's what it seems like every day!! And that's why you can't keep bus drivers. We've had some that said you don't pay us enough to put up with that BS. And walk out after 2 weeks worth of training and their first couple of days on the job. They're throwing their keys and saying no way. Especially when the kids lie and the parents back them up. It's the drivers that get the discipline not the children!

I call the parents and let them know there child is about to loose riding privileges. Usually I don't have anymore problems. If I do they are off the bus. Administrator will back me up or find another bus driver. Everything is on camera.

Parents pay attention your children can loose bus riding privileges

I feel for these drivers. Maybe they should start suing! At the beginning of every school year, all kids need to be read the rules of conduct and consequences (as in not being allowed back on the bus for the rest of the school year if it's a serious transgression), and then these need to be ENFORCED without exception. Nothing wakes a parent up more than realizing they now have to drive their kids to school every day.

The school system knows they are deficient and cant truly answer the hard questions 2:54. Theyre not protecting their bus drivers.

men im doing this line of work this School year and i thought i’ve built up my patience, ughh not sure if id still be able to do this if the kids on my bus has unacceptable behaviour, been thinking about to drive a truck for a try..

I got grounded for threatening to run away once. I had to sit behind my stupid driver because one of my classmate got removed from my bus route for picking on me and sent to another school for her behavior issues when my driver refused to write her up for picking on me. I regret not telling my teacher on her like I was supposed to.

Used to the drivers in my district would choose how many days they would be kicked off depending on the class of misconduct (to use big words) now it goes through administration who may or may not do anything about it.
  • The exact same thing here in Australia happens and prompted me to research about how to deal with problem kids on the school bus. I've been driving school runs for a decent time and I've heard it all and seen it all.... Everything in this video I agree with 💯. Parents either don't care, don't know about or don't want to know about their child misbehaving badly... Kids will be kids.... Yes I get that and I'm understanding of it.... But out off control behaviour I won't put up with it.... Our illustrious Australian government gives bus drivers no power what's so ever to reprimand a child thats out off control. Today's kids laugh at bus drivers knowing full well that their frustrated beyond belief bus drivers can't do a damn thing. I have even been cautioned by my work place for yelling at students that are out of control. Yes I'm human and like everyone else in this world, I can only take so much really bad behaviour.... You name it I've seen it and heard it... I am beginning to now understand why bus driving is great money per hour and yet...... No one wants to do an easy job and drive kids to school.... The answer is plain and simple. The job is not easy by any long shot.... If you think driving 60 school kids on 1 bus is easy... Think again. Not to mention dealing with ignorant and idiot drivers on our roads. Kids need to be held accountable for their behaviour. End of story. Being back conductors with some power. Power like. 1. Remove a student from bus travel for a period of time. 2. Revoke bus travel passes if applicable. 3. Vandalism on buses caused by school children should be paid for by parents after warnings. 4. Litter and food wastage and food that's used to cause harm or create a dangerous environment. 5. WHS (work, health and safety) daily issues for the bus drivers. And the list goes on and on...... Legislation need to dramatically change if parents want their children to travel on school transport provided by the government of Australia. To many kids are getting away with very very bad behaviour....
