I have been running heavy equipment since 1979 really enjoy watching the old iron come back to life. Keep up the good work your videos are greatly appreciated 👍
  • @fire44x
The machine has lots of protection with all those filters that's why it's still running

"big girls are always expensive dates". Gotta a few chuckles off of that one.

I don't think I'd give fixing that thing up a second thought. But, I'm sure glad you did. Your videos are always very interesting and with a touch of humor. Couldn't get much better, and this is from a 62 year old granny. Keep doing what you're doing.

Hi Matt, I'd like to add my admiration to your gathering clan of followers here. I started helping out plant fitting when I was about twelve and that was about fifteen years earlier than the build of your Cat. I was a big lad for my age and was often used as a pack horse carrying the consumables from the service truck to the machine often across ground like battlefields. Glad I've found your site - had my heart in my mouth when the little washer almost dropped in the gear selector box! I still have a couple of mini diggers here in the U.K. and regularly lay underneath them with oil dripping off my elbows fifty odd years later. Great work, I shall pop in again.

That machine is a beast. Amazing to see what the assembly lines of the 1960s and 1970s were able to produce - without robots.
  • This kinda equipment is the reason why we buy the cheap hydraulic oil from tractor supply. Sacrificial flushing oil 😹
  • @trojanorse
Good to see Wes making a guest appearance.

Just a side note a lot of the factory Cat hydraulic hoses used reusable fittings instead of crimp style. It's an Iron Mike style fitting with the outside sleeve that slides down over it. The easy way to tell is if it's got crimp creases on the sleeve or not. Anyway a cut piece of hose can be cheaper a lot of times if you got the fittings than getting a crimped one made. Just make sure the hose you get is for the reusable fittings.
  • Poor old girl’s been neglected for all those years. She must be thinking all her Christmas’s have come all at once
  • I know money doesn't grow on old machines but you probably should have replaced both hoses while you were "in" there. I love how giddy you get when things "pop off"! Another great video Matt! Watch out for stray bullets out there. Can't wait to see your wife tearing down the barn in the old Cat :)

The sound of that engine!! I LOVE IT!! It's the sound I fell in love with as a small kid. I absolutely LOVE that machine!!

Lol “big girls are always expensive dates” I’m dying 😂
  • @motor2of7
That old girl isn’t gonna know what happened to her. Glad to see that old iron back in service. That turbo whine is a beautiful sound.
  • @tempestmkiv
    I ran 955's and 977's lots, the 977 is a capable beast!
  • @mrswes
Glad we were able to stop by!!! Kiddo didn’t like the grass that was taller than him, but I thought it was a cool location.
