  • During times in my life when I’m an emotional wreck listening to heavy brutal music gives me strength. It’s hard to feel emotionally weak when listening to Cannibal Corpse. I don’t feel depressed jamming out to Morbid Angel. This type of music is an antidepressant for me....

Such a shame that we lost the nicest sweetest most polite man in death metal. R.I.P Chuck

Chuck Schuldiner was such a great talented musician. And a reserved, intelligent & so friendly person. A total big loss for the metal scene and the humanity. Why death so often takes the best people first in their best period of life? So many assholes in the world, and this sympathic guy has to go while fighting against terrible cancer. We all miss you Chuck :( Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner (May 13, 1967 – December 13, 2001), we will not forget you...
  • So cool to see there forerunners in the death/grind/thrash genre back in the early days. The best music in the world. Ale!!

I'm from Florida. And me and some of my friends started a death/extreme metal band. Right now we're doing cannibal corpse and slayer covers and eventually hopefully we'll be able to perform our own music. Hard to find gigs even in Tampa the old gem of death metal internationally

Florida Death Metal started in "Altamonte Springs" late 1982, Cheers & Peace.

Anyone who thinks metal music is written, composed, enjoyed or attracts people for any reason other than rockin out to these sweet jams, needs to get a life. Don't worry about us, worry about yourself.
  • All o can say I'm so happy to grow up in this era of time and music truly blessed
  • Chuck always be Theee Gentleman Geniuos Humble human beign in the Death Metal scene. R,.I.P  Chucky miss ya'  dude.
  • Possessed really started something revolutionary. Yeah sure they had thrash elements but listen to any older death metal they all had it. The first Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse records all had it. That's old school death metal for you. What they were doing was fresh an extreme for the time.

I like how Barnes said how one listener of a band will call it Death Metal and another Grindcore, etc. Because, I never considered Sepultura a "Death Metal" band. They're one of my favorite bands, so this isn't trash talk. Au Contraire, I think Sepultura is unclassifiable. I mean, at times they sound like Death Metal, others more Thrash. All I can say is that I am 47 now and Sepultura was that 'next level' band for a guy who at his first listen to them was into Heavy Metal and some Thrash......
