The Kings Colour Squadron, and some of them still can’t tell their left from their right.
  • Medals hold no weight unless you know why they are awarded. Once you understand their meaning then you can make an informed statement of one’s career in the military

Medals to include QE2 golden, diamond and platinum jubilee medals, KC3 coronation medal, long service medal and maybe throw in Afghan and Iraq deployment medals.

It makes me laugh how some people are all to quick to pick holes . If the shoes was on the other foot theyd shit there pants. Why cant these people show some respect theres a fare few Afganistan medals amongst that lot.I know theres quite a few people watching this that didnt agree with what went on over there. but our lads did it anyway with no arguments .
  • A number of the personal have a hefty set of medals! Including the lady leading the band and one or more of the KCS. As the youngest service the RAF has the newest traditions. The exemplary marching of the Kings Colour Squadron is one of them, but they’re only human. The British armed forces march well with discipline and pride, but it’s not the robotic style and exaggerated steps of some less democratic countries. My Dad joined the RAF age 16 part of Number Five boy entrants and was trained as a photographer. 1937

Never make a general judgement based solely on a display of medals. Some medals are awarded just for being sent somewhere but not necessarily doing anything whilst there. Some medals are given as souvenirs of our monarch’s anniversaries or a royal event. Very few medals are earned for bravery or distinction of active service and they are the only ones that really count.

6 medals is not bad at all shows he has done some time. I view my medals as time I have spent away from loved ones and special moments I have missed while serving.
  • From what i can see most of the medals are Jubilee and Coronation medals, with some for active service, such as the General Service medal.

How did Charlie 3 get his long row of medals ,? For outstanding conduct as commanding officer in the officers mess ? 🤣
  • I don't have any medals I never saw active service. I wasn't in during the jubilee issued medals ,and not long enough for the good conduct
  • And the glorious Warrant Officer's badge which he and others like him would have worn post war were terminated by the usual no nothing venal government. Not the Guards though, they've kept theirs . 😡😡😡

Unlike the US where medals are given out for everything in the UK you actually have to earn these medals and they are huge sign of respect
  • Still got two coins in the rifle magazines , used to be old copper pennies , but I suppose with inflation they will be 50 pence pieces .

Generally speaking, and only generally speaking. I believe the medal count is more a function of how long you've been in. Look at the medal count on the female professional drum major.

When we look at the incredible number of soldiers that are available for ceremonial services I ask myself does England know that times have changed and that the sun sinks every day in their present United Kingdom?
