  • Love how he goes into his original Rush drum solo. That little set cowbell piece is on All The World's A Stage back in 76 haha.
  • @kenmunroe7625
I love the musicians' reactions behind Neil while he's soloing.
  • What is also not widely known s Neil could hardly hear the band from where he was. That makes what he did here even more incredible.
  • Speaking as one of the people who asked for this, thank you. I just love the sax player's reaction to the audience when Neil goes into the cowbell section.
  • @ellispoo44
still can't believe he is gone and Rush is no more :(

I get a kick out of Garey's reaction as he watches these video's of some of the greatest drummer's who have ever played!!! Fun times!!!
  • @darthvicious9447
Out of all the reaction videos I've seen about Neil, this was definitely the most informative & accurate I've seen. You really did your homework about the man and his method & gave me a lot to think about on the progression of the drum kit from its beginnings to the modern hybrid kits we know today and Neil Peart was very "instrumental" in bringing these kits and techniques to the world of percussion. Very well done video !

The best to a salute that was thee best. RIP To both Greatest drumers. 😢
  • @stavard
Thank you for doing this one Garey. Weeks have passed but the grief is still too near.
  • @carlswanson808
I'd love to see you do a reaction-analysis of the Weckl/Gadd/Colaiuta battle from the 1989 Buddy Rich Memorial Concert

When I was young I asked a drummer from a local band who covered The Who, Led Zeppelin etc what was the hardest music to play for drummer, without skipping a beat he said jazz and rock. When I got started much later in life - 32 - I remembered that conversation and I decided to learn jazz, to quote a good man - "not because it was easy but because it was hard" after that any other drumming would be a piece of cake. At around 41 I got into a Rush tribute band because I had learned Tom Sawyer and YYZ and my journey with Neil began.

Another great video Garey! I'd love to see you do a drum solo tribute to Neil. I miss seeing you play, old friend. I never got to see Rush Live but I've been honored to witness your magic when you play.
  • Totally agree with your assessment Dave. As a Drummer growing up in the 70's especially with marching band drumming in Bugle corps competition NP stood out especially with John Bonham and Keith Moon and Carol Palmer! All the Greats! I would of loved to see those guys doing this with Niel . More than likely in CP's wheelhouse lol 😂.

I study the Greats now for over 6 years, I never took drum lessons and I don‘t have a theoretical background so I always learned from listening to my favourite drummers. Amazing that you are doing these analysis videos I learn a lot from your explanations and start to understand a lot more! There are a lot of details in these solos that I could not explain to myself. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!!
  • This might be my favorite solo from him. I like the smaller kit.
  • I love your enthusiasm and your knowledge weaved in. I bet you're an awesome teacher.
  • @jasonshort1437
Hate to be THAT guy, but the snare he's using here is his trusty Slingerland Artist snare. 3 ply. Thanks for shedding positive light and your infectious enthusiasm on this much maligned performance. RIP Neil, you were the greatest.
