This is how a new game plus mode should work. All you keep is your dex info, it'd be so easy to implement and give the games so much replay-ability. I'd want more options, but this would be the easiest win for them imo.

Early Nat Dex might make for more interesting Nuzlocking or challenge runs in BDSP. The added variety would be a welcome change.

I love that you go to the trouble of finding these things out and then sharing with the rest of us. I will most definitely be doing this and in fact - to address the the resource issue, I might attempt to have all the Pokemans holding a bunch of balls (with consent) - it'll be a lot more fussing around but might be worth it to Shiny chain so early! This honestly would give you an awesome advantage in contests to with a wider range of Pokemon comes a wider move pool 🧐. Now I just need to understand berry mechanics. Austin please do a guide to growing berries.

The ball that has a better catch rate in caves and dark places seems to work real well for me in the grand underground

I played through Pearl all the while saving all my nuggets, tms, and the sort to trade over to my Diamond game once I had successfully found a shiny starter on Diamond. Now that I have my shiny starter on Diamond and am progressing through the game this is MUSIC to my ears. Time to see if I can complete the dex from trading with my Pearl game and from Friends who played through Diamond already. I'm actually really stoked to find out about this! Thanks so much!

This could be a fun way to do Nuzlockes. Sure the initial set up is a bit tedious, but once you have the Sinnoh Dex completed for the first time, that’s arguably a majority of the process done forever, just transfer them over and back for every new file. You can use the Pokéradar for route encounters and the underground encounters will have been greatly expanded. AND ROTOM! I can see some arguing about the validity, but it can just be listed as a new type of one of the many nuzlocke subcategories as a workaround.

I may try this once Home is implemented. Having the National Dex so early seems so fun.

This way I could've had a shiny Yanma in my first playthrough of BDSP- it was alright I got it in 300 Masuda eggs in the post-game
