Today let's take a deep dive into the weird and drama-filled world of MovieStarPlanet. Hackers, fighting, drama, popularity, fashion, movies (er- I mean CINEMA) and more, MovieStarPlanet was a wild ride and a staple of the 2010's internet. Today let's take a look at one of the most famous, or rather infamous, online virtual worlds on the Internet.

I remember having two accounts with characters that looked like twins ( same outfits just swapped colors ) and going to a chat room and switching tabs to make it seem like they were telepathically finishing each others sentences. Freaked out a lot of people. Simpler times.

    “but she wasn’t jocking🖤🥀🔪⛓”
  • @advu_
"stop jocking" "but she wasn't jocking!" actually comes up in my mind about once a week
  • The thing about MSP dating is that there was an actual game feature where you could make a person your official bf or gf. Like, there was a heart icon and everything. The game makers were encouraging it, very bizarre and very weird

the phrase "bullying is not SWAG" has permanently entered my psyche

The “according to Facebook, the merch was pretty well received” paired with a single comment that just says “cool” made me giggle a bit louder than I’d like to admit

the fact that these old msp story videos look literally just like today's gacha stories just show how little we evolved
  • i'm a long time MSP vet and here are some stories i have: * the first time i got VIP was when i stole my sisters paypal info * i was friends with pumpchkin for a few months (im p sure she cycled between her friend requests a lot, i was just lucky) * there was a glitch for a while that could let you wear peoples "looks" without having to buy the clothes * the amount of anonymous accounts that spanned over that fateful week... * i was friends with an MSPtuber who was completely awful. she got mad at me for replicating her outfit and made a couple of videos on me. she also claimed she got hacked a lot. shed make so many MSP accounts with full star VIP, only for that account to be "hacked" within a day. idk man * one time this girl threatened to report my account if i didn't tell her what periods were
  • “I met Lana Del Rey” was truly snubbed at the Oscar’s. It’s really a surrealist interpretation of being desensitized through expectation of engagement, a riveting cinematic masterpiece.

Just wanna let you know that I’ve been regularly quoting “Stop jocking” “but she wasn’t jocking!” and “I’m not jocking” for a solid week now
  • I think I played this game for like a day in middle school but my only real impression of it is that I knew a girl in high school who was SUPER into it. One time when she was at my house she spent hours just showing me all her clothes and stuff and trying to convince me to play it. Like 6 months later I found out from another friend who ended up at the same college as her that she'd been arrested for committing credit card fraud at work lmao which is not related but somehow it fits the vibe
  • gotta say the worst thing is like kids and teenages posting pictures of themselves publicly on the photo bit. for MSP to allow that is a pretty serious misjudgement imo

on swedish msp there was a really popular series called "When an Angel falls" (När en ängel faller). I was a series about an angel who got accused of letting monsters into heaven, so she got her wings taken away and was sent down to earth. She befriends two humans and together they try to find out who let the monsters into heaven. The show had 56 parts and got over thousands and thousands of views and I remember going to school like "Did you guys see the new episode!!". It was weird and had a very dramatic plot, I think it ended with the mc straight up murdering the one who actually let the monsters into heaven. The good ol days

As an ex MSP youtuber I can say that MSP youtube was a mess. The amount of drama that happened between youtubers is crazy, child influencers would send their child audiences to make fun of other youtubers. Yourlivingnightmare was a big example of this and often made fun of Princess games which resulted in Princess Games' house getting swatted whilst she was only 14.
  • @ALLFriendsAndMe
honestly the movie editor is what gave me a love for animating and now im looking into university with good animation programs. insane what a game would do to you as a child
  • @xcallisto_
Actually I think pumpchkin was only popular in US servers since I've never heard of her. For me, RotiKhaase was the absolute number one celebrity within the MSP community (and actually she has 80k subscribers on YouTube, more than pumpchkin). She also had a series of movies called 'Damaged' which were very good, a long running relationship drama centered around domestic abuse

A social caste system revolving around how much money you spend on virtual world memberships and exclusive items is exactly why we have adults bragging about owning NFTs 😂

I had an absolutely terrifying experience on Movie Star Planet as a kid. I had made a friend in a room and we had bonded over being sarcastic and making fun of other players who e-dated, but out of the blue one day she described the Moors murders (real murders that took place in the 1960s) to me and claimed that she had done them. I was so scared and couldn't sleep that night until my mum calmed me down and explain what had happened.
