Drew is talking about the Monkey and the Box. In India, Farmers will capture monkeys by putting a box with a hole in it big enough for a monkey hand but not big enough for the fruit inside the box to be taken out. A monkey will come along and grab the fruit in the box through the hole but can't get the fruit out. The Monkey will hold onto the fruit for days, trying to remove the fruit, completely obsessed until the Farmer shows up and kills the monkey with a gun. This is a metaphor for holding onto something, being so consumed that it harms us. Sometimes you just have to let go.
