“Bone Folder” is definitely going to be the name of my new craft-themed metal band.

Sometimes it's nice to not to have to re-invent something that you know someone else has already figured out. So thank you!

I use a double pointed knitting needle. it works very good.

In a pinch, I have used a coin before - specifically a dime. I so love the fact you do these kind of videos. Even though you have a shop where you could make money by encouraging the purchase of a tool, you really show your heart by making crafting affordable to all. I so enjoy your videos, I've learned so much!. You are an awesome teacher, so upbeat, funny and relatable. I like your plan to share more like this. You do share these kind of tips in your project videos and I love that too. You have such a diverse group of followers with varying skill sets, it's great to see you do your best to make projects suitable for all. Love, love, love you!

The Thumb part of nail clippers, the handle or prong end of a fork...The curved portion of a paper clip...

You could use the “tail” end of a rat tail comb, or a wooden cuticle stick. Before I had a score board I also used a nail art dotting tool.

A blunt tapestry needle and ruler works great on cardstock.

One day, I realized there was a reason why I kept an old theme park season pass. Much thicker than a credit card. Worked well in a pinch!
  • Great ideas. Things that can be used to burnish the fold: The rounded part of a spoon, a paint brayer, a printmaking baren, a rolling pin, a glass, etc.

Thank you may may for this video . people like me love to craft on a low budget
  • I use a dried up pen for my scoring tool. One with a thick point. Works great for my 180 folding in the craft altered book art.

I have used a small crochet hook can you do one on how to make an envelope free hand without scorer or bone folder
  • Six months ago I had no idea of what a scoring tool was. For the longest time I used my self healing board, my quilting ruler and a crochet needle. I also used the board and ruler with a razor knife to cut my paper.
  • You are too sweet and kind to show these methods for those who do not have these tools or have a to improvise. I've used the hard edge of hard book cover and my nails. Ha! Ha!

I'm glad Google led me to this video! I plan on scoring place card holders for my wedding but I didn't want to go out to purchase a bone folder and scoring board for one -time use. Thanks for this!
  • @Barblooms
I am not a paper artist, but I have the occasional need to score paper. This is awesome! Thanks for the great tips.

This was great, thank you! I’m new to paper crafting, but am a perfectionist type, so sloppy creases would dive me nuts! I will try all the different ways in this video and see which I like best.
  • thank you so much. I couldn't get a score board yet . but needed to make a tea bags holder . thank you again .
