Surprised at the good spares that are crushed on the BMW. Great video.

When I walk on such a car recycling place I can't keep thinking that about 75% of the cars I see would be no problem at all to repair and keep them on the road for still several years, but the very high cost of repair, not the parts, but the cost of one hour in the regular workshop (here in the mainland of Europa), about 120,- euro / hour make it impossible so they and in this sad way not even their used part for sale are not extracted right to the crusher! I know in Rotterdam a car business that buys cars with problems and sends them to Eastern Europa for repair (lower cost = wagess) and than sells them to a new client / owner and they ride still many years, I think this is the way to go it save enormous energie (the energy to make a car is higher then the energy it uses during its lifetime)!

I just seen Jimmy Hoffa's arm sticking out of that trunk.
  • To all these people pissing and moaning about the crushing of cars that appear to have usable parts: chances are many of those crushed had been sitting for months on the racks you see starting at 9:30 or so, ready and waiting for customers needing parts. When scrap prices rise, auto dismantlers look around the lot and start picking which vehicles are more valuable as scrap as opposed to * possible * parts sales at * some point * in the future. Storage space is limited. They probably had a dozen other 3-series sedans on the lot and this one's number came up. These people know the business - contributors here do not.

That scene at 5:13 where the excavator tears the car's engine out is going to haunt me.
  • I’m amazed that there are individuals there that remain sober enough to operate those machines. While in Ireland years ago, I was arrested for not being inebriated enough.

The fact is, there probably isn't anything irreparably wrong with most of these cars. Bodywork these days is galvanised and doesn't rot anything like it used to. Engines, if cared for, will run to very, very high mileages indeed. It seems a bit of a shame to be destroying them, but people want brand new ones and old cars aren't worth much and are often scrapped because they require a fair proportion of their value in repairs. It's a shame. But a set of tyres can easily run you £/EUR500 - so getting an old car through it's annual inspection can cost just as much as replacing it might.

Great vid - love to see more - impressive to see that van coming out logged up hard!
  • Já vi essa máquina, prensa da Gerdau. Ela é uma carreta 3 eixos conhecida como xarutadeira.
  • @RPKGameVids
So many of those cars still look modern to me.
  • @BCB
We should be getting a baler soon! Definitely what we need.

Are these not the best jobs out there?!?!? Either one of those jobs would be so badass!
  • @nakiibrox2622
Why they don't export to Pakistan and Afghanistan. There is good demand of these cars

Note to anyone considering producing car crushers. Make one that works properly. Make one that crushes it without having to pick it up, and spin it around, and turn it sideways. Make one big enough to actually fit a car inside of it.
