    - My people are the Runaway Potawatomi but I went to Eastern Washington University. Every time I drove from Spokane to Seattle, I’d get an overwhelming feeling of sadness when crossing through Steptoe Butte. One day I took a Spokane friend with me and I asked him, “What happened here?” Then he told me. His story was much different, though. He said there was a defenceless band of women, children, and elders digging bitterroot. The Suyepis came and wiped them out, leaving very few survivors.

And today nothing has changed! It's worse because the technology to kill has grown exponentially. Leaders are killed or die under suspicious circumstances. And the domination continues. We have more unjust wars than ever without remorse because no one suffers but the weak. Profits have blown out and the path forward is irreversible. I am not native but I grew up on the Res and went to their school in the district. And the cycle continues in Israel and Ukraine as I type these words. How many remember the genocide of 16,000 Northern California Natives just so the gold miners could prospect in peace along the noisy riversides. The names of those tribes exterminated were never known.
