Ok, so everyone knows that DNA is the genetic code, but what does that mean? How can some little molecule be a code that makes a single cell develop into a giraffe, or a monkey, or Tony Danza? Within this clip lie the answers, child! It's all about transcription and translation.

I tried crash course. I tried everything else. And you just answered it all in six minutes. You are amazing.

The fact that I have to resort to YouTube makes me very disappointed in my school for not doing a better job of teaching. Dave is the real teacher here
  • @joezoo8637
It says a lot when all the comments below are praising Dave for an easy understandable video. Perhaps it is time for our Department of Educations to start taking notes!

I have my exam tomorrow and 6 minutes saved me the time of being lost in a 30+ pages pdf and figuring out all of this in words which is good for nothing! Genuinely remarkable and we need more professors/instructors like Dave. Thank you!!!

2 weeks of bullshit and it took me 6 minutes to understand, thanks professor dave you're my savior
  • @Jenna3336
Literally 3 bio lectures wrapped up into a 6 minutes video, great!
  • @MartialXD
I'm a senior biology undergrad and I've learned all of this several times over, but your video really helped me kind of glue them all together if that makes sense. I actually have a better visual understanding of how DNA functions, as opposed to just words on an exam.

THIS IS THE BEST PROTEIN SYNTHESIS EXPLANATION VIDEO ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET! THANK YOU FOREVER, PROFESSOR DAVE, FOR EXPLAINING THIS I FINALLY UNDERSTAND IT!
  • Professor Dave, you've made my life as a 40 year old working mom, wife and student a billion times better! Thank you! Please keep doing exactly what you are doing for all of us humans.
  • @konaaa420
did anyone else have to watch this for biology on quarantine
  • @Rosie112699
Wishing I found this channel long before the night before my final 😅 At least I know where to find simple, quick explanations if I have to retake the class. Thank you!
  • @lauren8135
The graphic for this is invaluable! I just watched a 23 minute lecture on this was really confusing, being able to see it and have things labeled and color coded is so helpful, thank you!!!

If there was justice in this world, YOU, together with Shomu should be awarded with a Nobel Prize :') . You are a great teacher! Wish all the teachers we ever had in both school and university had at least half of your transferable skills. I do not often comment in youtube videos, but I am impressed with your series, and how understansable you make such concepts seem. Keep on with your great work. A biologist from Greece <3

was so frustrated in my bio lecture and this 6 mins video helped me understand EVERYTHING in 6 mins that I have to comment thank you huhu
  • I’m taking genetics and general chemistry online during a pandemic and your videos are helping me so much.
  • @keithou4389
I was staring dumbly at the class for 2 straight days while listening to their jargons and not understanding how they translated them but here you are, Professor Dave! I thank you for including all those examples, It allowed me to make the connections I badly needed for missing a day of class.
  • @Moatiz
Thank you so much Professor Dave! I will definitely let my classmates know about your videos as a lot of us have been struggling in bio. Love your teaching style - short, concise, not trying to be funny and forgetting to give the information required, but mostly you give information in an organized and cleaned up fashion and that is what separates you from every normal professor!
  • dude, you are my saving grace. after watching multiple crash course and khan academy videos, i still didn't understand this until i came across your video. thank you!
  • Honestly thank you so much, my biology teacher has been trying to teach us this for three weeks and I have not understood it fully at all until now. You summarized it all perfectly in six minutes, THANK YOU for saving my grade!
