If like a contract. If Tesla doesn't cover the number of people hired required. It should lose all incentives.

I’m assuming they knew how many jobs they could cut to still be able keep their tax incentive!

That’s ok, tesla will give Abbott millions of dollars.
  • Texas embraced Tesla upon leaving California. Now this. BYD has now surpassed Tesla. It's time for Tesla or any company to build a cheaper and better vehicle than BYD.

Politicians are willing to give these billion-dollar companies like Tesla handouts but won't forgive student loans for your average American.

Texas was happy to dole out taxpayers money for Tesla.

Remind me again…why do all these billionaires need government handouts?

Did they say 14 million in tax incentives? They cut payroll by almost 800 million. 14 million in tax incentives is a rounding error...
  • Well those who still have their jobs should have no problem in finding a parking space closer to where they work. Shalom

Last week, just half of the planet hate Elon Musk, now it's 80%!
  • Some of the same people complaining about being laid off vote for anti-union politicians. Go figure. 😂

23,000 Tesla employees around Austin? My goodness. Tesla must be number #1 employer that's not givernment

Notified by email in the middle of the night seems to be an unethical way to treat your employees. Maybe Tesla will lose others that they want to keep who will fear the next round of job cuts?
  • I am sure the government will give out the Corp Welfare to but will not try to get it back. BUT you like Susan on Welfare not do one thing they drop her Welfare quick.

Not a Tesla fan boy but I know they were not planning on production slowing down. The cybertruck might have been a bad Idea. I see them all the time and they will not be cool for long. Showed it way too many years before it was available.

Austin needs workers still. The fast food place near my house still has reduced hours because they can't find enough workers at $18/hr.

layoffs from large companies are common .. they have happened since companies began .. when work slows down layoffs happen .. the people are not owed any job

Big companies such as Tesla layoff people when they have to, not for fun. Quite interesting to talk about meager tax incentives. If they have to close the factory, then the local government is gonna lose a lot more tax revenue.
