Flying through "747 Pass" near Denali

Flying through "747 Pass", across the Ruth Glacier and the Great Gorge and through the "Root Canal" near Denali in a Piper Navajo flown by Bob Edison of Denali Air Flightseeing Tours.
On the left (north) side of 747 Pass is Mt. Dickey (9,545') - here its summit is covered by cloud and its eastern face going down to the Ruth Glacier is 5,000' of near-vertical relief. The ice in the Great Gorge is 3,800' thick and from the bottom of the gorge to the top of Mt. Dickey is 1 1/2 times the depth of the Grand Canyon. The scale and size of everything and perspective is very difficult since there are no man-made objects on the ground. On this flight we are at approximately 200 MPH, or flying approximately 300 feet per second to help gauge the scale of it all. 747 Pass is 12 nautical miles southeast of Denali - the tallest mountain in North America at 20,310'.
