A HUGE Misconception. The land of the US Embassy (or any other) is NOT the sovereign territory of the US. It belongs to the host country. An embassy is still part of the host country, just with the special provision that the host country's authorities can't enter its premises without explicit permission. Representatives of the host country cannot enter an embassy without permission.
