I am so sick of the pretenders and the faux talent out there. I heard this woman on the CBC and damn near had to pull over. This takes me back to the 1970's where talent ruled. Here's to hoping Allison is part of a resurgence and can help change the face of music. We need to get back to a point where flash production and throw away art disappears. WOW.

Ms. Russell is beyond talented. There’s so many artists out there creating truly amazing and moving pieces of art and the mainstream refuses to acknowledge or don’t even get the chance to hear it because of all the radio artists being shoved down our throats. Which most of them have a microscopic fraction of the talent Allison Russell has.

I feel like I’m healing with you in these song and albums you’ve released. Thank you. You’ve been there through dark dark moments and now starting to find my joy and more so peace that I’ve never had in my life . Maybe in peaks of light but never fully. I feel like I embraced quiet moments in being Leo rising Pisces Sun & Moon. Being in my own energy and not , my family, my community, my government, my favorite singers being not worthy and others being so much more amazing, my coworker, my church or this insane angry, fearful, hate filled scared world we are trapped in but in taking time in the quiets of the day. I listen to music like yours to be able to find words to what I’m feeling or to be there when in need strength or relatability. It’s been so much that is the same story with us and it’s healing.I can tell you are taking us on a journey of healing but I think you have made it through the parts your singing, maybe I’m wrong. Amazing lyrics. I know a girl who needed to hear this tonight.

Wonderful, evocative, layered - I have loved your music, Allison, since Chocolate Drops and Birds eras. Outside Child has been probably the album/collection of songs from an artist which best captures my own experience of trauma and redemption. Even after all this time; I play it and tears spring to my eyes. I know it’s YOUR story. But somehow it is also my story. That’s really when music becomes most transcendent, isn’t it? When that arc of common human experience bends itself into one giant unending circle - beginnings become endings become beginnings again. Your exhale becomes my inhale becomes another’s exhale. And we realize that we aren’t alone. Thank you. ☮️
