This Christmas the Northern Ireland Tourist Board gave the Monroe family from Ohio a very special welcome home. They flew into George Best Belfast City Airport and were reunited with family for the first time in years to enjoy Christmas together in Northern Ireland.

As Roisin, Brandon, and Kaeli-Anne walked through arrivals, they were given a fantastic surprise welcome by Belfast Community Gospel Choir, who, dressed as ordinary bystanders and airline pilots burst into a superb rendition of 'Joy to the World' -- a real show stopping welcome to start off a really special family Christmas in Northern Ireland!

  • My wee sister is in this video as part of the choir.  She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer prior to the event - you wouldn't have known it from her enthusiasm and joyful passion on the day.  This choir meant so much to her and brought her so much joy and peace - I hope it can do the same for you.  She peacefully slept her way into Eternity on 5th October 2014.  This choir sang at her funeral - and she would have loved it.  God Bless !

I don't get why people have to think songs and videos like this are dum, lame, stupid or any other kind of negative words. I think it was awesome. Sure wish people here were more like that.

This shows the true spirit of the people of N.Ireland. The troubles brought the worst out in some, but the best out of Most and I hope that spirit continues to survive long into the future.

What a great arrangement of this song! Who knew an Irish choir could sound like a church choir from the deep south (of the USA...)?
