But, when they make a mistake, people are always there to see it, take pictures/videos, and make fun of them. Like, a person asked who the worst singer in Blackpink is. A person that said they're a blink said Jennie, because of her lazy scandal. Hi <3 I'm going to talk about Jennie's "scandals" I researched a lot so this is going to be long. I’ll also link some videos so you can watch those instead of reading this ridiculously long comment. Short version: They're all nothing but rumors. She didn’t do anything wrong. Long version: People say Jennie is favored by blinks and YG. Jennie has been called YG's princess amongst many other hateful names. No. She gets mistreated too. 1. No raps: She is the main rapper but hasn’t rapped since Kill This Love which was released in April 2019. She had no rap in How you like that either. 2. Her infamous lazy scandal: Around 2018 (ddu du era) she was heavily bashed for being lazy during their performances. A video comparing her previous performances to 2018 performances went viral. It was taken down but it gained a lot of views. We don’t know what she was/is going through. However, fans paid for the concert. So yes, she should’ve put more energy into her performances. Yes, Jennie made mistakes but the hate is so annoying and unnecessary. Be annoyed at her, sure but death threats? Stop. Idols are humans and sometimes they mess up. They have feelings too and the hate has gone too far. There is so much we don’t know. We don’t know our idols. In an episode of Blackpink House, she said she has motion sickness. Another time, she mentioned, she has low stamina. These performances were when the hate was at its peak so that could be a reason for her low energy. In a video, you can see her holding her stomach and breathing heavily. Some believe she was having a panic attack. Due to many other videos, people believe she’s depressed. It is not my place to diagnose her so I won’t. Those could be the reasons but we don’t know for sure. We don't know if she’s okay or not or if she was being lazy. She needed constructive criticism, not death threats and hate. It’s in the past now and the only thing she can do is improve and apologize. Which she did. She apologized about this on her Instagram, on her birthday. Also, her performances from 2019 onwards are amazing. Solo, Coachella, in all those performances her stage presence is amazing and even in How you like that performances, she’s pretty good despite having an injured ankle. (She talked about her ankle in a vlive. She was using crutches in that vlive and she explained that she hurt herself while exercising. Her solo didn't get many promotions either. The Solo diaries (behind the scenes for her solo) were also produced by Jennie and she paid the money for it. According to some people, she gets more work outside of Blackpink compared to the members. This is because brands want her. It isn’t her fault. Sprite Korea wanted to hire only. She and YG convinced the brand to have all Blackpink. However, right now the other members are being promoted a lot too. 4. YG’s favouritism: YG never did anything when she received hate. If she was truly YG’s favorite, he would’ve taken action. Even if he does favor her, that’s on him not Jennie. She doesn't deserve hate for this. She received a lot of death threats and yet again, no action was taken. No proper statement is given in response to her “Dating Scandal”. He allowed the hate to spread and made it worse by releasing her solo soon after the so called scandals. 5. Jennie is a bully: There were rumors of her being a bully. YGE didn’t do anything about that either. People even said she bullies Lisa which- no. There was a video where she said “Tell me what I should give Lisa for her birthday? I wanna give her a big slap.” She then laughed and said “I’m kidding.” and because of this people started a lot of rumors about her bullying Lisa. They are like sisters and tease each other. Jennie taught Lisa the basics of singing when Lisa joined YGE. 6. Dating “Scandal”: At the start of 2019, Dispatch (a media outlet that reports on K-pop Idols new) reported that she was dating Kai of Exo. Kai’s agency, SM confirmed it but YGE didn’t do anything about it. They broke up soon after. This is very silly honestly. Idols are usually not allowed to date because it interferes with their work but also because it decreases their “public appeal”. According to their contract, the members are free to date after a few years of debut. 7. She wasn’t credited for writing lyrics for Stay and Solo: She said it in some videos, but YG deleted the videos and uploaded it again but without the part when she said it. According to some fans, she has a notebook in which she writes songs. Her notebook with 60+ song ideas went missing/ was taken by YGE. 8. Hate for having the best clothes/makeup: It got to a point where we wish she would get mediocre clothes because we don’t want her to get unnecessary hate. Yes, Jennie sometimes has outstanding or prettier outfits, but the other members also do, at times. Jennie gets ugly clothes a lot of times too. (she once got a dress with ants on it) 9. People say she hates her fans: That is the stupidest thing I’ve read. She’s hated for having a RBF: Just because she looks “cold” and “intimidating”, people assume she’s mean and rude. Ironically, when male idols look cold and intimidating, people call them “International playboy” “cool” “handsome”. On a show called Knowing Bros, the host asked her “Which city did you live in, in New Zealand?” She answered, “Do you even know any cities in New Zealand”. People started saying she’s rude. Funny thing is, that’s the main “point” of the show. You’re supposed to talk to the hosts and everyone else in an informal way. 11. Hate for having the most amount of lines: In some songs, yes she tends to get more lines than the other members but this is because she is in both the vocal line and rap line. Again, it isn’t her fault. They aren’t allowed to decide on the lyrics or line distribution. In some other songs, the line distributions are quite fair. 12. Jennie being spoiled: This started because of the lazy scandal and dating scandal. People were mad that she was allowed to stay in the company despite her sandals and they began calling her YG’s princess and said disgusting things like “She probably slept with him and so she gets whatever she wants.” I won’t go into detail because a lot of disturbing things have been said about her. If YG spoiled her then she would not have needed 6 years of harsh training to debut. She had a comfortable lifestyle but she decided to move to Korea at the age of 14, without her parents. She’s hardworking and her success is a result of that. In episode 5 of 24/365 with blackpink, they talk about how hard it was for them and how they lived in awful conditions. Jennie once talked about monthly evolutions and said how hard they were and that they had to do a lot. Jennie said, in episode 5 of 24/365, they couldn’t afford food delivery every day. Which is funny to think because their families were pretty well off, so you can see they weren’t spoiled even though they were already rich before their debut. People talk about how they’re privileged since they’re one of the top three companies in Korea. However, they don't realize that competition is even tougher because there are so many trainees. They have worked as hard as all the other groups, and they deserve every popularity that they have right now. Just because we didn’t see their troubles doesn't mean they didn't go through tough times. Honestly it's been years since these so called scandals. She apologized and is doing better now. Their producer is Teddy Park, he’s the main producer at YGE and basically all of BP’s discography. The girls have expressed their interest in writing but sadly YGE won’t let them still... (or at least credit them properly, because Jennie has talked about writing “Stay” and her solo song “Solo”).
