Eighty-two-year-old Jim Demarce was on his way home from his local legion when he came across four men blocking the path.

When he asked them to move their carts blocking the path, he says they demanded money and his cigarette. Demarce refused, and the men allegedly attacked him, leaving him battered and bruised.

Demarce who is a Canadian veteran and ex-medic, has bruises on his arms, a split thumbnail, and injuries to his ribs and head.

Moreover, Demarce isn’t pressing charges, citing a lack of faith in the justice system.

Global's Victoria Femia reports.

Violence towards elderly people should have major consequences.

So this is what the veteran fought for. Thugs running amok, knowing they wouldnt be punished. It is really sad that even he couldnt be bothered to report it because he knows the justice system will do nothing. This country has become a dumpster fire.

The punishments need to be harsh. Too soft on crime.
  • @huggi2
in this case, vigilante justice is more than appropriate against these perpetrators
  • Many people avoid calling the police for lack of faith in the justice system. Cowards rob seniors.

The levels of cowardice to gang beat an 80 year old man is incredible.

APPALLING doesn't begin to cover my reaction. I'm hopeful this gentleman gets to live the rest of his days without any further insanity. ❤🫂

This is so disgusting. And for this wise elderly person not to trust justice says a lot about the state of this country.

He's a wise old man, he has our justice system figured out better than our Liberal politicians. Sorry this had to happen.

this poor fellow would be protected if news outlets like this one would stop supporting a government that lets this now very common issue happen all over Canada.
  • @MikhailJ
What the hell, why attack a senior I think he should still open a case because these people are left to roam and hurt others

Do the police need the victim's go ahead to investigate a robbery involving violence to a disabled person ? Out on the street in plain view?
