I removed visual clutter by getting a divorce.

    1. Get rid of your messy spouse Done.
  • I'm a 57 year old single man & I've recently discovered that minimalism is for me. My job takes me into people's houses and I now shudder at all the clutter and knick-knacks people live with. Coming back to my home (which is a work in progress) is an almost spiritual experience. The simplicity, peace and calm of it all is so restful. As a child I always loved the hush of libraries and art galleries. I find minimalism gives me that same emotion. I'm not just limiting myself to decor. I'm building a limited wardrobe which will consist of classic designs in neutral colours that mix and match. I'm going back to a dumb phone (I'm not on social media anyway). It great fun thinking of new ways I can add space and time to my life. By the way, I love the tip about removing labels from items. It makes a huge difference.

To everyone posting rude comments saying how bored you are, how useless or colorless or wasteful these ideas are, why are you watching videos like this? Go somewhere else to watch and find entertainment. If you watched looking for tips, as I did, but if you didn't like the ideas, then go somewhere else and try other ideas, but there is no need to express every colorless, unhelpful, rude comment that flies into your heads. This creator is obviously trying solutions that are personally helpful for her and that she hopes will help other people. Not all ideas are for everyone. Please keep your comments respectful and kind.
  • Like 90% of decluttering seems to be about removing invasive marketing and im all here for it.

Even kitty is in a neutral color! 😻😻😻

I especially like the idea of removing labels. "I don't need to show where I got something." Yes, indeed. I like the way Benita Larsson did not feature herself in this video. This was about promoting her IDEAS, not HERSELF. That is rare and also refreshing in these home organizing videos on YouTube.

Visual clutter is always a big thing that bothers me. I really notice how minimal the visual clutter is in my home after I go visit relatives for a few days and come back to my house.

As I know some of you are wondering and will ask, I'll just to let you know I'm doing well! Two more treatments and then on to some other things. ☺

Wow, the overhead camera view of the kitchen drawer displays is engaging photography. Ever the artist. Thanks Benita👁🙏

“...involuntarily scanning and taking everything in.” This is so relatable and definitely stresses me out, too. Your home is so beautiful, bright, and calming. 💛Hello from Los Angeles.

I love your show because you feature your actions and not just talk, talk, talk like other channels! Thanks!

Love your videos... so cute, interesting and calming. I am a 74 year old grandmother from Chicago and your videos have inspired me to simplify my life!

Some great tips, I have a difference of opinion regarding colour... If you love colour, like me, you don't need neutrals to reduce visual clutter. I suggest choosing a colour palette for your interior that is ideally kept limited to 1-2 base colours and maybe 2 additional pops of colour. Staying strictly to your colour theme consistently throughout will still provide a sense of colour uniformity and provide the eye a chance to rest.

It’s like the interwebs is taunting me. I’m staying with family, whilst apartment and job hunting, and they aren’t as organised as I am. I’m pretending to be a student again, staying with a messy boyfriend living with equally messy housemates. 😇 In my head I’m already making a shopping list of organisation, storage and cleaning products I need to get. Pray for me 😚😉

I do quite a few of these things, and I think for some people it can be difficult to understand why we go through the “hassle” of removing labels and such. But as someone who gets distracted and visually overwhelmed so easily, it’s actually more stress if I don’t do these things.
