Marie Antoinette was a Habsburg. I cover 300 years of her Inbreeding Family. I also recreate how she might have looked with her Habsburg jaw as well as her parents Francis I, Duke of Lorraine and also Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.

This family tree covers Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella of Castile, the Spanish Habsburgs and Austrian Habsburgs, which cousins they kept marrying until it got to Marie Antoinette.

So if you think Charles II's Spanish Habsburg family tree was crazy, check this one out.

Interesting note: Anna of Cleves was the niece to Anne of Cleves (Henry VIII's wife). You know that something is wrong when your family tree does not resemble a tree but a fishing net.
  • This family tree is beyond confusing. You deserve a medal for sifting through it - and way more subscribers.
  • @Lizzie-ve7kt
Apparently, when Marie was a child, she was equipped with a sort of precursor to braces in order to help soften her Hapsburg jaw.

I agree with the other comment that this tree was more of a fishnet! The Egyptian family tree, however, down to the last Cleopatra was more of a gigantic tumbleweed! 🤣 I love your videos. These trees are fascinating.
  • I love your humour! - "meanwhile, they are on their honeymoon - so let's give them some privacy....."!!!! 😆👌🙈😂

For those wondering how this could happen so flippantly, be reminded that when royals like this had children, they did not raise them themselves, necessarily. Sometimes the parents of these children would seem nearly like complete strangers until they enter preteen ages when they're expected to begin social responsibilities.

Royalty never really seemed to learn inbreeding wasn’t good. Thanks for bringing them to life. It’s cool to see living history.

Louis XVI: Louis XIII was my great-great grandfather. Marie-Antoinette: I knew we could have something in common!
  • @FaeSparrow
It's odd how royalty knew that inbreeding was bad (if they were marrying a close relative, in some instances they would even contact the catholic church to ask for permission), yet they did not seem to care.

„Tree“ tangled like a double string of christmas lights 🤣 Family reunions must have been awkward when introducing others, they were all each others cousins, parents, aunt and uncles, in-laws etc. 🤣
  • According to my Personal Ancestral File program, Marie Antoinette's parents were related over 100 times.
  • Truly astounding. It's amazing that both Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were fertile. I can't imagine how you get through all this stuff without your brain exploding. It almost gives me a headache just to watch the video. Thank you!
  • Marie’s parents look so alike. They could be siblings. With 30+ familial connections it’s not surprising.

As a French speaker, I just have to point out: it was delightful to hear you try so hard with the French R. It was music to my ears! That's commitment!
  • @Laramaria2
Never thought I would hear someone saying "it's not as simple as Charles II's family tree" 😅
  • @Rey_Palpatine
We live in a world where "niece-wife" is a term that can be used to describe real people
  • @jodeeps2287
You are amazing to be able to present these family “trees”. My brain can't compute the information, crazy!
  • @BloodNote
The fact this guy put this together and explained it all. Lord I will bake this man cookies for life. 😂
