A simple how to video demonstrating how to solder a 12v DC computer fan to a 240 volt adapter with a 6 volt OUTPUT.
We used this fan for a biltong/jerky box we were making...link below:

used the same method to wire a home grow kit for plant growth

Very helpful video! I used a 12V 1A adapter for a 12V 0.3A PC fan, and I intend to use it to blow the fumes from soldering, away from my face. However the fan spins at very low RPM, below 100, and its airflow is practically useless. The voltage on the striped wires of the adapter before i connect them to the fan is 12V, but when i test the joints i get a reading of 2.5V. The fan has a 3pin header and the third one is a tachometer, useful only to display speed information on PC. I have tried every possible combination even involving the "tach" wire. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks for your help in advance
  • If the CPU fan has 3 or 4 wires . Which wires we shall use I mean which colors for - and +

I have a 5v dc fan connected to an ac adapter output 24V and the circuit exploded, is it because of the voltage difference? Is ac adapter output voltage of 7.5V suitable? or safe same voltage or lower than 5v?

I have a 24v 0.65a ac/dc adapter is white and the wire. can I put the 2 wires inside the hole pin do you think it will work.

    Can I do this with a Noctua NF-F12 - 24V fan and a 24V adapter? Thanks!

It worked thanks what about a printer dc motor from epson
  • So you just twisted the wires together. I have a fan with four wires (blue, yellow, red and black). How should I go with it?
  • @jahinparvez316
Could you have connected the wires using alligator clips?
  • @pec-chest
Dose it matter if you have an ac adapter but you have a dc fan will it still work? It dosent say on my adapter that its an ac/dc adapter it only says ac
  • I have Nidec Betav TA450DC fan from the old computer. It has 12V DC 1.40A. Which AC Adaptor can I use? Only those with 12V or less? What about that 1.4A, those with 1A will work or must be more than that?
  • @ciacho86
Can you somehow connect the fan to the jack directly without cutting the jack off?

Hi. I tried this today and my case fan started to spin, though with very low angular velocity. I've checked that the power source (adapter) is indeed a regulated 3-12V adapter. Any idea what could be going wrong?
