This song started in the first movie and ended in the last movie. A perfect theme for the GOTG indeed.
  • @chopsuey--
This is undoubtedly one of the best character intros of all time
  • When Rocket says that this song is special and plays it in the first post-credits scene of Vol.3, I was crying. This song was the first we heard in the first movie and the last we heard in the third, there couldn't be a better ending.

I love this scene for introducing Star-Lord as his fun/goofy self, despite losing his mother and being raised as a galaxy traveller and one of the first ever songs played as these movies have killer soundtracks.

Who’s here after watching the volume 3 to remember how it all started?
  • Incredible how a 2 minute long scene was able to entirely set up the whole tone and mood of a 3 movies trilogy
  • *Peter grabs the lizard Lizard: I dont want to die *Peter starts singing Lizard: this is worse than death
  • Watching Chris just cut loose here and dance so freely and joyfully always makes me smile. The whole scene just makes me feel good! Thanks to Chris and James Gunn for this one - not to mention Redbone's great song!

Still one of the best cinematic opening scenes ever. Set the tone for the whole franchise with this one scene.

The fact that they used this same song to end the GoG saga gave me chills

Starting and ending the trilogy with this song was a masterpiece, the theatre on opening night we were all singing to this song at the end, this song really resonated with Guardians fans everywhere

This was peak MCU. When a movie was released I would go to the theatre opening week without question. Now… after Endgame I just don’t care anymore.

These movies openings not only set the tone but they show who’s perspective the story is being told from. The first one opens with Quill dancing to 70s music in a dark gloomy cavern, showing us his grittiness but also his unshaken youth and optimism. The second one opens with baby Groot dancing in the middle of a huge battle, and the tone is more bright and colorful than ever because it’s from the eyes of a child being raised by the Guardians. The third one is from Rocket’s perspective, which is why the opening is so dower ad the overall tone is grittier and darker than ever (It’s also why it’s so emotional when Quill brings Rocket back to life and Groot joins them in a 3 way hug. It all comes full circle in that scene)
