My BELOVED Prairie Dog Perriwinkle(aka Perry, aka Mr. Winkles, aka Mr. Winkidinks, aka Perriwerrie, Periwinkies so on and so forth ….commonly described by my best guy friend as “Looks like a squirrel, sounds like a monkey but it’s a dog” LMAO) Well I had him for just over 16 amazing years and while he reluctantly took quasi-sponge baths on occasion, usually when coated in some sort of edible food or jam or something lol…OH! Or when my son was 21/2 and decided to “Butter the house” including said Prairie Dog and himself, one time when he woke up from a nap before me! And exclaimed he had wanted bread and butter, his pretty basic but favorite snack for a while……but I NEVER knew they could swim!!! I would have loved to have tried to see if Mr. Winkles would have enjoyed it!! Awe I miss him SO SO much and think about getting another one all the time! Now he sits in a little copper and gold urn on my Mantle……one of the best pets I’ve ever had or worked with!! And I worked at the Bronx Zoo, have owned and rehabbed and competed with tens of dozens of horses, had tons of other pet species from Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches to our Sulcata Tortoise(who will outlive all of us, kids included!)to multiple dogs and cats, but Prairie Dogs are definitely one of my favorite pets ever! I miss having play dates with my friends pretty little girly P-Dog and my manly rotund ball of manliness Mr. Winkles!!! I’d do anything to go back in time!!!😭😭😭😭💖💖💖💖💖
