As an African American man, I can attest that Aretha sounds just like all my great aunts. They all have that old school, classy, but forward mentality. They command respect with the way they carry themselves. That can be intimidating to those who aren't accustomed to these kind of women. But I'm sure I speak for a lot of other black folks when I say, this is all we know, and is no surprise.

She earned the right to say everything she said. She wasn't disparaging them, she was responding in a place of truth. Each elderly earns the right to speak what's on their mind, life is so short, they have no time to waste, they don't have to beat around the bush. I'm not mad. RIP miss Aretha.
