In today's video we are preparing for our first winter here in North Idaho. We will be showing our wood stove installation and getting our winter firewood bucked, chopped, and stacked for winter. We want our debt-free DIY tiny home barndominium to be warm, and non reliant on outside fuel for heating.

LOL "who is parenting these kids?" Someone who loves them enough to let them be kids.

Your oldest son stays with it all day loading the truck. Going to be a great help

I hauled water and heated with wood when I was in my mid 40’s. When I was in my mid 50’s I invested in a wood splitter. I actually enjoyed splitting wood and shoveling snow. Now that I’m in my early 70’s my back and shoulders are paying for it. As you can afford it, invest in machinery to make life easier. Your body will thank you for it when you get older. I miss having the energy you both have at this stage of your life. Have fun and be safe😎
  • You will be a muscle man by the time winter is over splitting wood. Your wife will enjoy you. She is a hard worker for such a tiny woman and mom.

I love the universal teenager look while moving the wood. I have 4 daughters, I know that look well.

We who burn wood for heat are four times warmed. We cut, split, haul and stack.
  • U AS A FAMILY ARE PURE INSPIRATION! "A FAMILY WHO WORKS TOGETHER IS A FAMILY WHO STAY STRONG, LIVES LOVES AND STAYS TOGETHER!" HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AFTER ALL THAT WORK!

What a beautiful thing to see a man and woman working together to build a life together on a homestead. 💜 God bless you!
  • Those who make their own firewood are twice warmed. ... Godspeed to your wonderful family.

You all need to get yourself a Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog. They are amazing dogs. Smarter than most people and really affectionate.
  • Hopeful you guys have a plan B to protect the lambs. Geez they are the cutest thing. May God grace be upon your family and this new journey.

Nothing better than country living. And the memories with your family, priceless! The veiw from your property is beautiful. God Bless you all
  • I've been watching this channel for a few months now and am in wonder in how Melissa and crew have brought the channel to what it is. If only the rest of us could live this life. Yes, it looks easy on u-tube but I'm sure its hard work. However, the end result will be well worth it. Think of the memories that are being made. Those young kids will look back on this in their older years and realize what hard work can achieve. Thanks for letting us take this journey with you.

" you can never have too much wood", wise words.
  • @wkjeom
Never saw anybody work so fast moving and stacking wood!!! 😀😏😊😄
  • @allenh7835
On firewood, i have heard many old timers say "Cut what you think you will need, then cut 4 times that amount. You just might have enough".
  • @MJ-ge6jz
Chopping Wood and Carrying Water/Wood.... It builds character!

Maybe use a few bales of hay to make kids a more permanent pool
