Anyone who's ever stepped on board a boat has likely considered, even if only briefly, what would happen if they fell off it. The terror of that thought though is usually washed away by knowing there'd be immediate help. A life ring would be thrown into the water, the boat would turn around, a rescue would happen. But what about if you're a lone sailor and you fall off your yacht in the middle of nowhere? A month ago it happened to John Deer in shark infested waters off Panama. And just how the Aussie adventurer survived the freak accident undoubtedly makes him the luckiest, unlucky bloke in the world.
