Thank you for sharing so many detials. I certainly will be checking out the Kinder level. Thanks!
  • I went with torchlight for my preschooler based on your kindergarten review. So thankful for the Pre-K review!!! More more confident in my decision now! thanks!!
  • We're doing the pre-k and (continuing with level 1) this year from Torchlight. Thanks for sharing all the books!

We kicked off homeschool with my 4 year old this week and she is not responding well to our “learning time” together but she loves it when we read together. I’ve rewatched this video of yours multiple times, and I think she will at least really enjoy all the books! I don’t think the Torchlight curriculum is going to work because I end up getting super focused on the “plan” and she prob feels pressure from that. I did buy the Breathe Like a Bear book and the Torchlight kit for that though! The batches are beautiful and it’s not that costly. Please let me know if you have any tips! Thanks so much!
  • We are about halfway through TL preK and are really loving it! It’s such a beautiful, engaging curriculum.

What do you mean by spines? As far as books? How will I know what ones I should buy vs. borrow?

I printed mine at home. This took an entire day, but I was able to avoid printing the activities pages twice and could print most pages in b&w, reserving color for the pretty ones. Thank you for posting this, it was your review of Level 1 that introduced me to this curriculum and inspired me to purchase it.
  • Hi, I have a 3 yr old (turned 3 in August ) and a 5.5 yr old. Do you think this will be good for both boys? I think what I'm wondering is will it be enough for my 5.5 year old who is following 1st grade level curriculum for math and LA? This year we went with BookShark level 1 and I feel like I want to add more character building and hands on learning for my 5yr old rather than just reading from the books for (which he enjoys but I feel I need to add more to make it more fun and not too serious 😆 because he's a very serious child lol). Also I want to make the elementary years more free and easy going and be able to combine both children is HUGE for me. Will this curriculum work? Thank you

How much would you say all the books, CD and additional materials cost you? ... The ones that I absolutely should own for the school year. Not ALL of the materials.
  • Hello! Do I have to buy all of the books in addition to the torch curriculum in order to be able to use the curriculum? Thank you!!
  • How many of the books are spines (or which ones)? How many can I get away with from the library? The literature looks awesome, how is it for literacy skills?
