In Auschwitz, gynecologist Carl Clauberg attempted to sterilize hundreds of girls and women. Many died. Some of the last survivors relate their terrible experiences at the death camp.

Almost 80 years ago, Kiel gynecologist Carl Clauberg was given permission by SS-Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler to sterilize hundreds of girls and women in Block 10 at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Clauberg had previously worked with the chemical company Schering-Kahlbaum AG to develop hormone drugs and contrast agents for use in his experiments. "We were called up with our numbers, then Clauberg appeared and injected something into our vaginas. And then they sometimes said: ‘No more children’,” remembers Auschwitz survivor Leny Adelaar.
Carl Clauberg was a leading light in world of reproductive medicine at the time; an ambitious, driven doctor who volunteered his services to the Nazis as a way to further his career. His research paved the way for the invention of the birth control pill. His work on birth control and infertility is still part of the medical canon to this day - but all too often, a veil is drawn over his experiments at Auschwitz.
This documentary records the experiences of the last survivors of those terrible experiences. The women talk about their lives before and after the death camp, about their suffering, their loss and how they managed to carry on living after liberation. Among them were some who were fortunate enough to have children, against all odds.

The fact that all these women lived into their 90's and even 104 is just amazing.
  • @mellyboo513
The women that had to stand up and be subjected to criticism and further medical exams to prove they were experimented on had phenomenal strength and endurance. To be able to withstand that in order to prove what happened for those that could not testify is beyond anything I can imagine.
  • It amazes me that all that they went through they lived for so long
They are true survivors and the bravest of ladies
  • @blacklily35
This needs to made public beyond social media.

I took care of a lady that was part of the holocaust. She showed me the numbers on her arm and told me so many stories. The best history lesson I ever had. I remember just staring at her in shock like she wasn’t real as my mind was completely blown away. I remember for days I’d walk around feeling different about life. She and the situation kept me in zombie mode for days
  • Such an incredible documentary. I’m glad it’s been made with such high quality. May this chapter of history never be forgotten.

My older then dirt grade 12 history teacher was a ww2 vet. When it came to learning about ww2 he actually rounded up a bunch of vet friends both in person and online, and a few of who would have at one time been his enemies to explain the war. Hits a lot harder when you're hearing personal stories from all sides and countries. Some of those stories were absolutely chilling.

May those who suffered and no longer amongst the living, rest in peace. Those who survived, may God's blessing be with them and they continue to bear witness. DW thank you.
  • Thank you for this documentary of history. May it not be forgotton, nor repeated. It is difficult to believe such evil exists in our world. They were brave women.

Thank you ladies for making this film and capturing their stories before they are gone. Retelling history and truth, hopefully remind humans to never do this again.
  • Monsters. The old monsters are dead but, new monsters have risen to take their place:(
  • God bless these souls. What a blessing you documented their stories before their passing. To have survived that horror and live into their 90's and 100's is most amazing. 🙏
  • We can't forget the past, or we will repeat it. I am so glad that these women lived to make this video.
  • We will never forget. When his mother was singing. Brought back memories of my nanny singing to me in Yiddish as a child. Her mother escape the war and came to America. This is horrendous. Makes me so angry.
  • This is unacceptable, and to think that the scientists came from there after this, worked here in America is more horrifying.

These poor lady's that was subjected to these hideous crimes against humanity. I feel so sickened I'm a women in my late 20s whoms suffered chronically with bowel endometriosis for years. I have had many surgery's and treatments because of this. My surgery's was under modern medicines and anistectic and I still felt excruciating pain. These lady's had nothing and was treated worse than animals for the slaughter. I'm so sorry for them......................... (Edit) Thanks for all the likes on my post. I appreciate it :) thanks yall x
  • How remarkable that these women who were so badly treated went on to live such long lives! May they all be now on a safer shore and in a greater light, with peace in their souls.
  • Everything about that war and what they did to the Jewish people was absolutely horrific. Bless these beautiful, brave women that agreed to do the documentary. I cannot even begin to fathom them dredging up the horrific memories. Though very grateful for the knowledge. May they all rest in Heaven.
  • The trauma these young women faced is unimaginable to me
Being a woman and loosing the ability to have children because of inhumane methods made me cry.
    It's haunting
Thanks DW for such a wonderful documentary.
  • So ironic that the intro to all these documentaries warn that the contents may be disturbing.
Now; just imagine how disturbing it really was if you were actually there.
