Larry David is the master of getting out of situations he doesn't want to be in. It seems like that's pretty much all he does is find ways to get out of things.
  • @AbhayNayak

I have laughed so hard at the “I have one question and then I have to go” story!!! Larry is the most iconic person ever. Must have him back!!
  • @Tomax_Bren
I am so using that "I have one question then I've got to go"
  • @Gided
"I've got one question and then I've got to go."
  • So frickin funny. The two of them together was so much fun. Could watch Larry talk to Conan all day!
  • Larry usually resorts to old stories in his interviews, but Conan was able to make him soo comfortable. Great set of interviews.

Always love a conversation between two of the greatest writers in comedy

6:44 "maybe we could... without mentioning..." it is so weird seeing larry averse to saying something that might get him in trouble
  • They are so right. Having a comedic mind bespeaks of a mind set not common in most people. That ability to mentally step outside the situation and come back in with an observation unique and funny. It requires a heightened sensibility for observing the absurd and the ability to shine a light on it. What a gift.

This Miller commercial they always run in the middle of the show is the only time I ever see Sona agree with everything Conan says.😄

It's fascinating to hear Conan say this about fake laughter. Many moons ago I was a part of his Late Night show as a script intern. One of my responsibilities was to take a list of monologue jokes curated by the head writer (Sweeney) and prepare them for cue cards. So if the jokes were amusing I'd already seen them multiple times. But right before showtime, as the crowd filtered in for a live taping in the studio, Conan would emerge from his dressing room preparing to do the monologue and would skim read through the cue cards so that they weren't totally alien to him when he went on the air. A crowd of writers, PA's and other stage hands would crowd around as he read them without the inflection of on-air delivery, his eyes searching the faces of the crowd for confirmation of the material. I could tell he was watching me out of the corner of his eye because I would not laugh as the others were, mostly on account of the fact the jokes were not new to me and he wasn't delivering them as he would for the audience. After the cue card read through ended and Conan dashed out to perform his show, a writer took me aside and whispered in my ear, "Look, I won't pretend these are the greatest jokes ever, but you have got to humor Conan and laugh, you're freaking him out and he thinks the jokes aren't funny because of your reaction." Little did I know that I wielded such power as an unpaid intern, but I was his demographic and avatar for all, and so from that day forth for the rest of my internship I fake laughed to accommodate the frantic request of a writer who relayed what my impact had been upon the host for not laughing at his prepared material.
