The 2024 Subaru WRX TR (RS In Canada) ($41K) is a brand new trim for the new generation Subaru WRX. It still has the same 271 horsepower from a 2.4 liter turbocharged boxer 4 cylinder but it gets fully outfitted with goodies like Recaro seats, upgraded suspension, brakes, wheels and tires. But does that make it more than the sum of its parts, or is it just another excuse for Subaru to not release a proper STI? Watch and find out!

I bought a 2004 STi in 2003. For 20 years I have been waiting for an upgrade. It looks like it could be another 20 years.
  • Subaru is wise enough to hear the criticisms of their cars…and then keep the things that are criticized, and change OTHER things 😂

POV Subaru doing all in their power to give the customers not what they're asking for

For anyone wondering, the birds you can hear in the background are called killdeer. They're a pretty cool little ground nesting bird that will fake injuries to lead predators away from their nests/young.

"We don't track Corollas" Yeah you do, it's on your leaderboard.

Who wants to see an entire episode of Thomas coaching James in high performance driving?

We still NEED the STI. Subaru is really letting us down. I just found out that in Japan, you CANNOT get the WRX with a manual transmission. Come on subaru!!

When I bought an STI in 2021, the base package which was 310hp, 290lb-ft torque, mechanical LSDs front and rear, DCCD, 6-speed short throw, steering-responsive headlights, brembos with cross-drilled rotors and bilsteins was right about $38k. Lot has changed in 3 years.

I can’t watch a throttle house without an intro. It’s why I’m here! My god, it certainly isn’t for “objective journalism” or to “better understand Canadian culture”

As a former WRX owner, Subaru has never been known for its beauty, but this generation is just ugly with that cladding, and fake vents. The exterior reminds me of the last gen Civic Type R, and not in a good way.

I'm commenting here because this is your latest video. I just wanted to say you guys are my favorite channel full stop and I like a lot of different types of content. Your content and production value are giving the classics of top gear and The Grand Tour a real run for their money. I'm a subscriber and when I have the extra cash I'll join the club. I hope nothing but good for you guys. Just don't ever let a network ruin it,

I thought this was a pretty solid video, regardless of what some other's are saying. Yes, it had the track intro and no, it shouldn't have been on Throttle House extra by the way it was filmed and edited. People are too picky. Been following you guys for a few years now and am more than pleased with the content. Love the cinematic vusuals and the comedic, canadian banter and presentation. Keep it up, boys! 👏🏼👏🏼
  • I painted the rear bumper, and it changed everything . Bigger brakes and wider color matched fenders with coils make this car stand out above all those in its price range. It also has more aftermarket support already than any other brand. With just an intake and tune, you're pushing above everything around. Plus, STI swap trans and easy reliable 500hp with new strait con rods and bee hive valve springs. High revs with no worries. It's a sleeper for sure.

The center differential controller, LSD, direct connected 6 speed, and hydraulic steering is really what made the STi feel so much more race inspired than a WRX. The modern cable driven 6 speed and electronic steering feels like I’m driving a rental.

Subaru really falling behind when the competition is really doing a good job.
