YouTube Proof that 5.1 Support Does Exists!

Seeing a lot of debate on this, before I state something I always make sure I have done fact checking and testing.

I think this support is primarily for the new YouTube TV platform where they want people to be able to watch movies in 5.1.

The issue is of course what apps or platforms can use this data and having a setup configured in a way to make use of it.

Sorry for how shaky this is, holding a phone with one hand and a remote with the other. I do suffer from mild parkinsons, I'll be happy to retake this video more professionally down the road but this was a quick one off for demonstration purposes.

SmartTube Next Beta

Soooo anxious for my Onkyo TX-RZ 50 to ship. Question: Are you using the speakers on your wall above the main left/right as atmos speakers? If so how do you like their performance? Thanks!

PCM is 2 channel stereo. It may play over 5.1 but it's using 2 channel stereo to get there. YouTube does not support true 5.1 or higher surround sound. You are using your receivers processor to simulate DD and DTS surround sound.
