Great video, quality contents and really good discussions. Thanks for sharing.

@20:58 - valid point about not wanting previous owner bookplates as those generally detract from value, but the image you pulled from the web is actually of a publisher's bookplate with Christopher Tolkien (author) and Alan Lee (illustrator)'s signatures. Quite valuable, and definitely not "nonsense"!

Autopen signed bookplates, or autopen signed books...better to buy in person signed books, if possible. Thanks for a great video.

I don't want a book that is singed to Bob when my name is not Bob. I have had good luck with ebay, as long as there are good photos. Just about all the other sites have ripped me off and sent the wrong book.

Why are you dissing the inserted bookplate at youtu.be/eTCkRsmG5v4?t=1259? It is signed by the editor of the book Christopher Tolkien and the illustrator of the book Alan Lee. Why do you think it is signed "with some sort of nonsense"?

The image you show at 20:59 is of the publisher-bookplated Trade edition of Children of Hurin that was sold at the release events (both in the US and UK). These are both worth significantly more than the non-bookplated equivalents (which are worth absolutely nothing). So that's a pretty bad example of something "signed with some sort of nonsense" (a strange turn of phrase). The image you used is also not in the public domain, FWIW (I'm not a book dealer, but you should probably only use images from dealers with permission - which I'm guessing you don't have in this case, given your lack of knowledge about this particular example). As for book plates added after the fact, I would in general agree with you. I won't buy books with bookplates or inscriptions (unless by the Author).

How much is the Where the wild things are book worth? Because I have that book.
  • @wew4913
I have a book that I can't find posted anywhere. What do I do?
  • It’s simply not true to say you can’t return books on eBay they stipulate to sellers that you have to accept returns provided they’re in the condition you sent . I have found some amazing bargains on eBay often sellers are clearing relatives estates.
