The beginnings of the DIY home brew heat pump. Hope to get the tubing all connected and pressure tested within a week. The home brew evaporator is installed so a good start. Making up an accumulator which could delay things a bit. The throttle for the testing will be a needle valve, ultimately will go to a TXV. Changed oil in the compressor. Ultimately will be a radiant floor heat system using a DC compressor powered by solar. More coming as the experiment continues....

You videos are very good looking forward to more
  • Neat little Freon to water plate heat exchanger. When I tried this 10 yrs ago the exchanger had a slight leak. Seller would never make it right; went to a tubing inside a tubing. Ed c

Hope to have a new clip out by the end of the month with results from the heat pump project. Finally got back on it. I just released a clip on flare connections that really helped with the project.

An update: I got this HP up and running about a year ago. It worked quite well The evaporator was/is a little too small and I need to update the tubing in it to 3/8". The system also needs a TXV and I plan to pick one up. However I will be going a new direction and changing to an air-air system for simplicity. I have other projects cooking these days (mostly radio related) and this one is on the back burner. But it may be next winter before I get back on this one.

You should do up an E-book an sell it on Amazon with parts list and then have some detail video that would be available for people who purchase the book

I'm building 6x8 shelters for the homeless in Eugene, OR and hope to add solar heating to them, but need only about 1000 btu. Can this be scaled to work at that level? Would anyone be open to help figure this out?

Is a project still working? No update video found :(
