About Yo-kai Watch 3 on Nintendo 3DS:

Hey, I just wanted to say, Mr. Blue-Shy’s design is not supposed to look like he is hanging himself. It is based on teru teru bōzu, a traditional handmade Japanese doll. In making the doll, the fabric is cinched with string to separate the head and body. The design was not intended to look suicidal or executional, though I can see how some western fans could see it that way.

My favorite part of ykw3 is knowing you can play as three different characters because I like all three of them.

Don’t worry Mr Blue Shy is based off a tradition where people make dolls and then hang them up to get the rain to go away that’s why one nickname is rain so it could be a Yo Kai that does not like rain a inspirited rain doll

Mr. Blue Shy is supposed to represent a Teru Teru Bozu (I probably butchered that), a Japanese weather doll that is said to keep away the rain. Obviously Level 5 had some influence to make the design dark.
