Corals have long since been in the news for being at risk of bleaching. At Georgia Aquarium, a team of biologists are helping restore coral in the wild—by cultivating them in the lab.

I didn't even know coral nurseries we're a thing until just now. These people are doing fantastic work, and I want to thank them so much for protecting the environment.

When she said “as a biologist you must get used to failure,” I just laughed thinking of all the experiments I’ve failed in college so far

did they just call a smol coral "baby Groot"? that is just the most precious thing ive ever heard

I like kim. She's doing a job she loves and is helping the environment. Smart, kind, dedicated, really a good example for everyone.

Good luck, corals! Sorry for all the shit we're putting you through...

Reef hobbyists: You guys are getting paid?! I would love to have my hobby full time.

You just realise the gravity of human destruction when you hear biologists ‘working to make wildlife self sustained’.

I love how she refers to the tiny coral as "him." Technically I guess that's the correct way because he's an animal, but it's still super cute!
  • Amazing work, I’m a student getting my undergraduates degree in marine biology, and we do a lot of work like this, we recently in the beginning of august collected the spawning from A.PAL because they are endangered. For my thesis I will be looking at micro-fragmentation on artificial substrates as a way for reef restoration. I’m currently working on my proposal and January next year I am to begin my work......I’m excited........Great video!!!!!

Her: "I can look at my daughter and say I've tried" Me to her daughter: YOUR MOM IS AWESOME 😍😍😍

What they should be doing as well is breeding a variation of the corals that can withstand the harsher conditions of the future. It seems like corals can't naturally adapt fast enough, so we should definitely help them...
  • @paihpais
Been doing this for 2 years now. Really hope more people would involve themself in this
  • @ver93
I'm actually glad that youtube recommended me this
  • @mwilk19
Home aquarists have been doing this for decades. Nice to see that the scientists have caught up.

I want to say thank you very much for all of the coral scientists, you're working hard to save all of us!
