Got my meat birds heading to butcher house soon. Sold them to my farm to table at the extension office. So excited to be able to be the one that presents the main dish at the festival ❤❤❤ all my birds ❤❤❤

When I was a kid, back in 50's - 60's, my dad and grandmother never wanted a chicken bigger than 3lbs! Their fav was a 2 pounder! 🤣🤣🤣. These big chickens today are strange!!! I swear, you buy chicken today that are like turkeys!!

We like to harvest ours in 2 waves. Take half - the Big Chonkers in the first wave. Wait 10 days to 2 weeks on the second half - The Runts & Smalls. The extra time gives 'em a chance to catch up on some body weight ... plus gives us a break rther than one super long processing day, we've got two more leisurely days.

Love seeing family come in to visit. While I do not have chickens, I think you definitely made the right decision to wait on the birds especially if they will grow several pounds in a few weeks. Yes, the feed is more but your value for each bird goes through the roof waiting if some double in size.
