Landon struck gold when he hired this magnificent actor. Katherine honed and portrayed the character of Harriette like no one else could. A masterful performance, and a bright jewel in the Little House crown.

Katherine played her part so well, she became the character that people loved to hate but her humor was a ten out of ten. She never failed to make audience laugh. Those who knew her in real life characterized her as a very kind person.

Cannot believe this woman never won an emmy. The most hilarious villain in the history of television. I used to watch this show just to see Harriet's outrageous antics - still do.
  • CAN’T BELIEVE the Emmy’s NEVER HONORED this BRILLIANT Actress!!
  • I think Katherine MacGregor is one of the most talented actresses ever. She portrayed Harriet Olsen to absolute perfection.

YES! Katherine McGregor and Richard Bull where fantastic! The show would never have been the same without them! 😅

Can we just agree that Katherine MacGregor was the perfect choice to play Mrs. Oleson? Much like Alison Arngrim as Nellie, she understood exactly who her character was (probably because she read all the Little House on the Prairie books and she created such a detailed history for her character) and she relished her role as the antagonist. I am giving this woman an Oscar because she absolutely deserves it.
  • My mother, who is 87, and I watch the reruns all the time. It’s hard to find good wholesome shows any more. 📺📇📜🖋🧹🧺🚪🗝🛎

The most compelling character on the show, and what an actress!
  • Little House was one of the best shows on American television. There will never be another like it.

I think she should have won an Emmy for her portrayal of Mrs. Oleson

She was by far my favorite in the series. Cried from laughter at the episodes she was playing in. Marvelous actress.

Katherine MacGregor, Carol Burnett, and Jean Stapleton—these three women were the trifecta of female comedic geniuses in the 1970’s. You won’t find such brilliant character acting in any of today’s shallow TV/cable programs.

She was 93 when she died in 2018 at the Motion Picture and Television retirement home in Woodland Hills, Ca. Richard Bull (Mr. Olson) also died there in 2014 at the age of 89.

She was a comedic genius. She was so funny in that role.
  • I'm 65 and watch the reruns every night. This was quality television.
  • She was one of the best villians on tv when I was a kid. The actress was so insanely talented

She was my favorite in that show and still makes me laugh….
